55 years, can't believe all those years have gone by. She was 16 when I met her in church on the Air base in England. Born in Dundee Scotland during the war. If she had red hair she would have been perfect. Her father was my first Sargent. The squadron moved to France where she graduated and said , yes. Again we all were moved to New Mexico where we were married in the church on base. She likes to tell she came with a sleeping bag, $500., and a Webley & Scot ltd 410 shot gun. Being a male I didn't do some things right, or said something wrong at the wrong time. But I finally found the proper words that will calm the beast and all will be well. the words are,Yes Dear.
She has been in a wheel chair the past couple years and I do my best to take care of her.
Would I do it again? In a heart beat.

Lovely story Shaper, and congrats on the Anniversary. I have been the primary caregiver for my wife for the last 5 years and it's a dedication for life as far as I'm concerned.

Congrats, Shaper, that is quite a milestone. Great story, too. Btw, I married a redhead. 48 yrs so far, praying for many more.

Aye congrats to both of you. I dated a redhead recently for about 2 1/2 months. Was phenomenal first month and a half then crazy got let in. She did warn me of her Irish temper though.

Congratulations to everyone married to one woman for many years. We will hit 53 years this year. Like others we had some ups and downs prior to getting married but 2 sons and 3 grandchildren later I would do it all over again if I wasn't so old.

Sweet Ol' Carole & I made it to 55 before she joined the Feathery Choir - eight years ago. Congratulations on you & yours, even though she's bound in the Go-Devil...

shaper congratulations on 55 years. Sounds as though you and a few more on here found just the right one. I know we did and it's 51 going on 52 for the brown eyed girl I married. Her hair has slowly turned a silvery gray and mine has mostly let loose. Just like you wise ones said, the proper answer is most always "yes dear".

When you marry the right one first, it usually lasts. Dated 3 years, and tied the knot almost 55 years ago. My parents made 62 years before Dad passed. Creating a close family is key.
