Do any of you guys take molded bullets from other's for a test drive?

Well setting up to mold for my 45/70 I saw a lot of suggestions of people saying "I use this and it works great" etc...

So that got me to wondering. Do any of you guys I guess, buy a hand full of bullets for each other, pay shipping, and find out that way if a particular mold would work or not? Seems a lot better than paying $100 for a mold that won't work as well as another.

Working with a group of KNOWN bullets ( alloy, mould manufacturer, and mould number) can save a lot of expense. You test the bullets and buy the mould that works best once. O have sent several test samples of various bullets to several on the sight. Its a great deal for testing a bullet with out buying the mould

I've given a number of samples of cast boolits for others to "try first." I was more than happy to help, and I presume that that there are plenty of others here who share the sentiment. I don't cast anything in the size of the subject boolit in the OP, unfortunately.

I've been on the giving and receiving end of PIF. It works! I've bought 2 molds after testing others bullets.

YEP, I am going to test some 22 caliber bullets I was gifted by members here in my 218 Bee tomorrow.
Some are sized and lubed, some I have sized and lubed myself.

Folks have offered me samples to help me determine a good mold, I do the same. In the grand scheme of things sending a baggie or box of bullets is a small courtesy that can help someone out when it comes to buying the "right" mold which might explain why so many in this forum do it.
