Winchester M70 270Win, 10gr Red Dot/Promo, Lee 277-135. About 1500fps. Glock 26 Gen3 9mm, NOE ELCO 358-155 HP, 2.9 grains of Red Dot/Promo. Gonna try some W748 in the 270 in the next few months.

Ruger 45LC convertable although the 357Mag is a close second. For plinking I favor a 200gr boolit over 4-5gr Promo or other powder in that range. For molds I have settled on a RNFP for most everything short of hunting.

270 win is kind of a surprise. Do you use any filler?

Any of my several handguns. They range from 38 special, 357 mag, 45 acp, to several 9mm handguns.
They all work well with cast.
I haven't tried rifle yet.

Marlin 1894 CB .44 Spec/Mag. 24" bbl with a Lyman Receiver Sight. Two favorite boolits are 429421 and 429244 with the latter being shot most with 22 gr of H110 in Magnum cases.. All the boolits get Powder Coated now so there is no barrel leading and clean up is one clean patch thru to push out the powder fouling from the last shot.

My second favorite gun which is quickly becoming my Fav is actually two guns. My Mossberg 500 Tactical Shotgun and my Browning A5.

The M500 has been to 3 Front Sight Tactical Shotgun Classes and is a joy to shoot. It had teh VAng Comp Process done to the barrel andpatterns buckshot into 3" at 15 yds. I can run Birdshot, Buckshot and Slugs interchangeably and the gun has devastating power.

The A5 is a new project that will quickly earn it keep in 3 gun comps. I have both a Smoothbore Slug Barrel with sights and a Hastings Rifled Slug Barrel with sights.

The Slugs we are loading over at the "Casting For Shotguns" forum are all in the 500 gr range and out of either gun they are 2" groups at 50 yards. Hoping to get that at 100 from the A5 rifled barrel. It is truly a .73 caliber Rifle!

I really can't answer that other than "the one in my hand". 375Winchester bb94 was so easy to get to shoot well, 10gr of 2028 and a Lee 255 cuts cloverleaves and a case full(black powder style) of AA4064 as a hunting load behind NOE375449 grouped well. Then there is 35 Rem and 30Rem in M41 and M141s, 38 special, 44special, 3030, and current favorite 41special! 41special I'm shooting a NOE 411 238 grain lfn with 13.5 of 2400 for hunting and experimenting with a full was cutter and 231 for plinking.o ops forgot 32swl and 32hr, my summer favorites.

My coonan classic, 158gr round nose powder coated, 16.5 grains of wichester 296/h 110. Happens to be a pretty darn good load in all the revolvers, and the ruger 77/357 rifle. This load is for target work. For hunting, I substitute the round nose for a rnfp. Same charge. Works fantast for deer.

I like casting for any rifle or pistol,my favorite ones are 30-06,270,and 44 magnum. If I had to pick only one gun to cast for it would be my 788 Remington 6mm with the Rcbs 95 grain

Yes, yes, yes!

Also, any S&W M&P (pre model 10) .38 Special and any 1911! Easy to find good shooting loads in these pieces. My 1903 and two 1920's Smith's have never had jacketed shot by me. My 1937 Colt 1911A1 ...maybe 100 rounds in the 40 years I've owned it - thousands of lead though.

No real 'favorite'. I shoot cast in everything but my .22 Hornet but, in terms of ammo expended, it'd be a toss-up among my BPCRs.

I thought it was my SR Mauser 30-30, but my Tikka 8x57mm is getting interesting. 44-40 and 38-55 are a blast, too but with one boolit apiece.

No filler, just the Red Dot/Promo and a large rifle primer. I just plink with it. Haven't tried a hundred yards yet but 25-50 yards is dime to quarter sized groups. I tried three different boolits including 2 ancient Lymans but it liked the Lee the best. And people basically give the brass away.

Favorite gun for cast boolits is my Marlin .45-70. 500grn boolits from Lee mold. No favorite powder or load. I’m always trying new things with it. That’s part of the fun. Soon I’ll be trying paper patched black powder in it. I can’t wait!

Like the man said “All of them! “ I cast for all my guns except my AR15. And that’s only because I haven’t the funds to get into Powder or hi tech coatings. My list includes but is not limited to 9x18, 9x19, 30.06, to list a few.

I don't have nearly as much experience with cast boolits as a lot of you do, about 7 cartridges. Been reloading and shooting much longer, but casting not quite 3 years.

My favorite cast boolit gun happens to be my favorite handgun to shoot, period. I know, a bit unconventional: My Glock 20 gen 3. It is a gun that I just like to shoot. From mild to wild. I have several favorite loads. One that stands out is a stout load of Accurate no. 9 under a powder coated LBT 200 gr WFN bullet.

I could not pick just one. Some days its my S&W M-29 with a H&G 503 and either 8.0 grains of Unique or 20 grains of 2400. Other days it may be any one of my 45's with a H&G 68 over the classic Bullseye load. Or any one of my 357's with either a 150 or a 170 grain Keith SWC. Or my Ruger #1 in 45-70.

This one for now. My 22 hornet is still a work in progress, along with the 243. All of the big bores it seems have the propensity to be less problematic.

Marlin XLR 45-70 Government. Handles both the RCBS 400gr and Lyman 405gr. and hunting is its game.

But, thus one is just a lover of cast too.
Smith &Wesson model 29 Classic. Full length lug, adjustable sights, smoothest trigger I've ever squeezed. Likes RCBS, Lyman and Ideal 200+ grain cast best. Hunting also its game.

It is so hard to pick just one. As sharps4590 said, it is so true.

For years an original Winchester high wall in 32-40 loaded with original Winchester brass, 13.6 gr of the now discontinued IMR 4759 and the 200 gr iteration of the Ideal mould #31952. I don’t get out as often with any of my rifles these days. :(

I do get to shoot my revolvers a bit these days, and either of my S&Ws in any iteration of 32 caliber tend to find favor. When I have time to cast either Ideal or NOE bullets of SWC design they get loaded over 1.7-2.5 or so of Bullseye. :D

My Ruger #3 in 30-40 Krag.
Verrrry light loads using the 311041 and 4759. Very accurate, very mild recoil, no leading, and a cool action that reminds me of an artillery gun!

Bion, my "favorite cast bullet gun" is a Uberti Yellowboy Model 1886 Classic, in .44-40, I kind of chanced into. The original owner had it in his safe, and managed to make a deep scratch in the brass receiver on both sides. He traded it to a dealer I've dealt with in past, who offered it to me at what he had in it. Coming with papers and box, I got quite a deal -- 'ceptin, of course, those deep scratches -- reason dealer was "stuck" with it, and my low buying price. A. Uberti, Brescia, Italy Model 1866 Yellowboy Carbine, imported by Stoeger, Accokeek, Md., 44-40 WCF lever action, 10 rnd., 19” barrel, s/n 96xxx, having been manufactured on 17 July 2003.
Not suitable for me to carry too far while hunting as it weighs in at just about ten pounds. BUT -- perhaps from this weight, compounded with the slickest lever action action -- it affords me the most accurate cast bullet shooting firearm in my wee collection.

32 Winchester Special. The 1:16 twist is just the thing for a cast bullet.

I'll second that ! Same with my 35 Rem with the 16 twist , from plinker to full snort max jacketed loads with cast , pretty easy to find a load that shoots well .

If a gun doesn't shoot cast bullets well it doesn't get out of the safe very often. My most favorite 44 Magnum is a toss up between my Dan Wesson 44H, 6" bbl w/favorite load of 240 LSWC over a upper charge of WC820 or my Puma with a 265 gr RD RNFP over a med load of 2400/Blue Dot. But basically it's the "gun of the day"; lately I've been casting and reloading a lot of 45 ACP, but last month it was 45 Colt...

I'm really a Milsurp. guy at heart and love my 71/84 Mauser so it would be a toss-up between it and a Gew. 88 commission rifle. Close second would 1886 Kropatschek or !888 Mannlicher straight-pull (the wedge lock).

Bought a '16 R700,stainless SPS 7-08 new. Never seen a factory round or a JB.

Wears a minty B$L 3-9X40. Shoots a nose bumped,as cast body,GC sized Lee 285-130RN. In the nose bump,a meplat gets swaged. Lube is 3/1,BW/vaseline. Ernie gunsmith trigger spring to set weight to 3 1/4#. Saving $$ for a Timney but ain't terrible as is. Action is bedded and forearm opened up for clearance/cooling. Stock custom painted oak tree lichen green with black spider webs. The load is 37g Varget and CCI primers and a light jam, that works up through the mag.Day in and out, rain or shine, hot or cold into a ragged hole at 100.

It's rarely out of my sight.

I love casting for my 8mm Yugo Mauser, 9mm pistols, and 45acp's. Not sure why I do, but I've come to realize that I just enjoy casting and loading and shooting boolits much more than jacketed.

However, my all time favorite rifle PERIOD is my pre-64 Model 70 .270. I have never cast boolits for it, but it looks like I should!

That Model 70 is totally doable! We need more 270 casters!!! Let me know when you are getting ready for it and I can send you some boolits from different molds. Might be cheaper than buying molds at random like I did.

I find my self looking at the Ruger 44spl a lot. I have a Marlin 44mag 24" CB rifle. On the fence about keeping it. If I do I'm getting a 44 spl ruger to go with It!

It may not be for the same reason as every one else, but my 98 Mauser in 9.3 x 62 MM Mauser it is the last rifle built with my late friend Mike. I shoot a cast boolit from #2 Lyman in a Accurate 37-285 C mold over a 70% load of H4895, it will get a 1 inch group or very close to it any day , and just memories of two old Vets, make it all better

Favorite right now is a JES re-bored Marlin 336 in 38-55. I use the Accurate 38-250B loaded anywhere from 1250-1600 fps using Universal, 4198 and 3031.
Honorable mention to my family heirloom Marlin 94 25-20. Built in 1906, this one is a hoot to shoot and my favorite woods loafing gun. It's just getting too hard to find parts for when breaks down. Looking for an ejector right now.

I like my M1903 Springfield, in that it is very pleasant to shoot with cast bullets. It shoots as accurately up to 150 yards as with ball ammunition, beyond which I have difficulty discerning a small target, making performance at longer distances a moot point.

I like my S&W Model 28 with the Lyman 358156 gascheck bullet, which shoots as clean as any jacketed projectile. I am grateful to the late Charles 'Skeeter' Skelton for touting loads with this bullet, which saved countless hours of experimentation.
