Burner height?

Guys
I have just about finished the melting pot, I am working on installing the HP LPG burner,
the only item holding up this build is,

How/far should the top of the burner be from the bottom of the pot?

I have adjusted the air flow thru the burner to have a very Blue colored flame,
and that burner does get hot very quickly.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to the height measurements,
I have a adjusting slot movement of over 1-1/2" total range.

I believe mine is 4 or maybe 4-1/2 inches below the pot.

I just put together the frying outfit, I robbed the burner from,
measuring from the pot bottom to the top of the burner head, measured 2",
there is no adjustment for OEM burner setup, bolted solid..

I have about 1-1/2" of adjustment for the burner head, set in the middle of the adjusting slot,
with 2" measurement now.

Attempting to get the most heat to the pot bottom, with the least amount of Propane used etc,
since I'll have to do some testing with the new set, using water test,
I'll see which heights adjustment gives the best output for heat.

Mine is 2” at the most seems about right.

I started the burner height at 1-1/2" from the pot bottom,
Just got thru doing a water test, had 1 very small drip from the main center plug,
the burner had 6" of water boiling in less than 10 minutes.

The exit pour spout drains all material out very quickly,
I may have to put a cap on the pour spout and drill the correct sized hole to control the volume, when using the lead.

So I guess it works, now to finish the welding up and fit the heat shield around the pot and frame.

Next test will be melting some WW to cover the exit pour valve and break in the ingot molds etc.

Got to get ready for the new pellet NOE molds that the Pony Express is bringing.

I have been experimenting with the height distance of the flame tips to the pots bottom.

I moved the burner head up closer to the pot's bottom, so the tips of the Blue flame were slightly touching the bottom,
about 1" distance and it appears to work even better and produce more heat, as the time for boiling water at 212*, was quicker.

These tests were in the unheated shop with no drafts/wind blowing and I haven't added the heat shield yet.

I was checking the temperature with the new "K" probe, which works very well.

So I think, I'll leave the adjustments alone for now.
Have some pure lead to melt down for the first real test at 600/650* etc, so I'll see how it goes for the first test.
