I have been shooting a Cow boy
45-70 for a few years.
Got a few doe with it.
I have not checked the size
of the bore yet.
I went out to the SGS and got some
lead egg sinkers.
Will size the bore in the next few
days.:cbpour:

Well I could not wate any longer
I set up my wooden gun vice.
C clamped it to the table.
Turned the gun upside down on the vice.
Used baristol in the barrel for lube.
Gently hammered the plug in.
pushed it with a cleaning rod with a
44 jag on it, and a plastic hammer.
The plug came out the barrel,
and I measured it with my digital mike.
The results are 6 lands-6 groves
They mike at .457-.4569.:p
So I am good at .459 for my boolits

You didn't tell us what 45-70 you have.

yes it is a Marlin Cow Boy.
And it has the JM stamp.
Now I have loaded 4 boolits
for the project, a 400 GC,
a 420 PB, and a NOE 415 PB, and GC.
They are loaded over IMR 4198.:veryconfu

A friend had one and the very first CB load we tried in it was fun and very accurate. Lee 340gr fp cast of ACWW over trapdoor level charges of Unique.

Went to the range the other day.
And as normal it was windy.
I still shot the 4 loads and the
best load so far was NOE 415 PB.
I had 2 touching and the first out of
the clean barrel went high right about
2 inches. The others were all over the
target. Need to give them another try
when it is not so windy.:groner:

All of the heads were coated with
JPW first then sized and lubed.
The PB heads have a wax paper
wad put under the head.
They are cut out of milk cartons.:redneck:
