What's up ? I went to the gun show this weekend and found a Lyman cast boolit book (3rd edition) and a pound of reddot, because research here for loads has listed alot of loads praising Rdot. Sooooo, I get to flippin pages and notice a problem! Alot of the charges listed fo 44sp and 44 mag show charge weight increases of 7 gr only resulting in increases of 200fps????

I'm confused.....

7 grs. of Red Dot is a full load in most .44 special recipes.

I was refering to 44sp;245gr swc 2400 11.4gr 704fps. 44mag;245gr swc 2400 19.4gr 974 fps seems weird that 8 gr increase would only yield 270 fps???

It doesn't show a Rdot load for 44sp or mag.

Longer cartridge, more room for expansion in the 44 magnum than the 44 special. A smaller space will make the powder burn faster and raise pressure. Plus they could be using a different gun for testing, could add more to the equation.

the change from 38 to 357 is like 3 grains so 7 for a 44 don't seem too outta line.
