Placing 1 round in the chamber at a time is ok. Imo. 10 rounds in 10 minutes.

I have used a single-shot pistol for 50 yards slow-fire and reloaded after every shot. The same time limits apply. A scoped TC Contender in any caliber clobbers everything else on the line and the sour grape losers will complain, but it complies with the rulebook. 10X possibles are attainable if you do your part.

Can not switch guns when firing a National Match Course. 10 slow, 2x5 shots timed, 2x5 shots Rapid fire.

20 shot slow course , great for Contenders. HEY, thats like cheating. Lol.

Contenders very accurate. I short ISU Free pistol with a 10" bbl 22 lr, 9 oz trigger.

I shot a match next to a guy that Took the whole 10 minutes for slow fire. He would dry fire twice then load 1 round and repeat. He did pretty good.
I always load 5. That habit comes from Timed and rapid fire.

You can use a single shot fore slow fire. If it has the Correct trigger pull weight.
The national match cource must be fired withe same pistol fore slow timed and rapid.

NRA allows single shot pistols for .22 and center fire matches. Revolvers or semi-autos are required for the .45 matches. The minimum trigger pull for .22 is 2 pounds and for center fire is 2.5 pounds. The maximum barrel length is 10 inches as is the sight radius for both .22 and center fire. Both open iron and telescopic sights are allowed. As always for bullseye (precision pistol is what it is called now) you must shoot offhand using only one hand to hold the pistol. Have fun.

As I said I only compete with myself. On my range. It’s my zen time.

I do like to get close to regular match standards. I have a model 28b that is still my favorite 50 yard handarm but I get more consistent results with the cylinders full. I would like to shoot singles with ballast cartridges in the other 5. One shot then reload for the slow fire.
