Anyone have any experience with this cartridge? Reason I ask is I was at an auction last month where I bid on (and won) two boxes of miscellaneous reloading gear that included RCBS form dies #1 and #2, an RCBS neck sizer and a Vickerman seating die for the 6mm Donaldson Wasp.

I really wasn't paying that much attention to the extras in the boxes, I was bidding for the set of RCBS .45 ACP Shot dies in the first box for $7.50 also in it was an RCBS 32-098-SWC double cavity mold. The second one for $12.50 had the form die set and the 6mm stuff.

It is almost embarrassing how cheap reloading gear goes for at run of the mill auctions; I do hope when it is time for my stuff to go down the road that my daughter uses some sense disposing of it.

Nice score, but it's gonna cost you some money. Now you have to go buy a 6mm Wasp rifle....least thats how it works for me!:bigsmyl2:

I spent a long time studying the 219 Wasp data and almost thought I wanted one as it really beat the 223 for economy and velocity. Then I read the data that mentioned 29" bbl. Several companies will chamber you a contender bbl for around 3 bills.

I hadn't even thought about a Contender.

I guess the thing to do is dig up a few .30-30 cases and see just how painful it is to convert them. Just looking at the form dies, it is considerably shorter than the parent case. I can see this becoming a "Someday when the stars align" project.

That cartridge works in single shots and the .30-30 rims can be turned to work as a single shot in a Mauser or similar bolt gun. The shoulder permits head spacing without contacting the rim.
It should produce balistics similar to a 6mmPPC.

Nostalgia aside, you would be better served to pursue a 6BR or 6BRA chambered bolt gun.
Jus sayin’.

An old mate owns a 219 zipper and we find 25-35 necks down easy with a light annealling.
