This bullet casts nice,I got the mould for another caliber but today I decided to try it in a Marlin for a plinker load first. 50 grains VV N130, should be about 1700 fps. Didn't chrono yet,it's raining.

I've been shooting Marlins for 20+ years, can't get rid if them. I actually started my casting expedition with a Marlin so it's like a love affair. But I never tried this light a bullet/load oh boy this is serious fun! It doesn't need to be the heavy,big,bad all the time. I broke s tooth once,shooting insane 45-70 loads from bench. I also did subsonics for a while,had a can for a Marlin but it's another story.

Fired brass looks like new. I hit where I aim. Clean barrel. More bullets per pound. The light recoil makes one laugh.

For that size boolit I think I like my Lyman 457122HP (Gould) a little better. They are just fun to shoot, yes.

I got the same mould recently.

Mine drops at .459 and they weigh 333gn cast from 3-3-94 alloy.

I got it because it chambers in my Thompson Encore which has a very short throat.

458 Socom is my intended use for this. Drops 459 with my "hard" alloy. I size 3595 after three Hi-Tek coatings. Neck expander is 459. They weigh 324 grains when coated.

But I was wrong about the (guess) Marlin velocity,it is 1975 fps. I did not open Quick Load, just estimated using manuals. Feels really light after 15 years on 480 grainers.

Works with 458 Socom,too. That was the original plan,I wanted to test a new coating pushed faster in a stainless Marlin first.

This is 1750 fps. VV N120,OAL to the crimp groove,could be quite a bit longer but I wanted to crimp a little.
