From my reading the 45colt does not work so well in the 92 so what about the 44mag, good or no good

I think the earliest '92 .45s had teething difficulties, but believe that was resolved in later production. I have a Cimmaron/Chiappa '92 carbine that works perfectly.

Afaik, Chiappa is the only levergun with a twist rate friendly to heavies. 1:20" for both 45 Colt and 44 magnum.

My marlin cowboy edition shoots anything you put in it. From 185 to 325gr bullet.

Win/Miroku web site say's 45 Colt is 1:18 3/4" twist in the 92, I shoot 300 gr boolits from mine 900-1000 fps. no problem

That's good to know! I couldn't find any besides the Chiappa that would be good for heavy for caliber boolits when I was looking. Seems like 1:38 is the norm.

I have had mine for 2 years and had no problems with it, the only thing I did find is mine will not load the LEVERevolution 45 colt loads. the shell on these are shorter than the normal 45 colts shells and they will jam everytime in my Rossi 45 colt rifle. I thought it was my rifle acting up and switched back to my regular rounds and the jamming problem went away.

My Trapper in 44 mag shoots my 300grn heavy hardcast loads great. It's a little tack driver. Likes my 240grn LSWCs too.

The LEVER guns just aren't designed for true straight walled cases. They can make them work by "ovaling" the mouth of the chamber. The early .45COLT rifles didn't have enough "bite" on the small rim. So they fixed that problem. And most will function, with little or no work. Had a friend who had an early Rossi 92 Carbine in .44Mag, it functioned just fine if fed Jacketed or the right profile cast bullet. Back in the mid-1980's those type of cast bullets were few & far between.
That's why "Cowboy Gunsmiths" sprang up. Reworking Rossi 92's, MARLIN 1894's, WIN 94's and Uberti 66/73's.
The cast bullets showed up. The Rossi '92 was the starter rifle for a lot of Cowboy Shooters.

The Japanese Guns were/are probably the best made.
I have a BROWNING '92 in .44Mag that's worked perfectly for over 40yrs.
Slug your bore and choose a good RNFP with a good crimping groove. Size it one thousand over slugged bore diameter. Watch O.A.L. carefully.

I guess I should have added that the BROWNING 92 and a 20" WINCHESTER 94 from 1988 both like the SAECO #432. Over a full charge of 2400 or 4227 It's a tack driver in either gun and My RUGER'S too.
Cast of #2, it weighs right in at 264grs w/gascheck & 50/50 lube. Sized .431 It's a great bullet, but recoil is a bit stout in the little 92 carbine.

We have three Rossi 45 Colts. They are all early carbines and one 24 inch rifle. All were Interarms imports. All three function nicely and shoot 285 grainers with no issue out to 100 yards. We do load these 45's to be thumpers so I guess we have enough FPS to keep them stable. 18-19 grains of 2400 and similar power loads with 4198 and 296 are not causing us any issues.
If we want less power we get out the 357 or the 41 mag lever flippers.
