For me this deer season I am starting off with
my 475 Linebaugh Encore with a 9"MGM barrel
and a new AR !0 that I put together this past year
in 6.5 Creedmoor for those long shots
How about you all :p

Cast in 7.7X58 and aught six using RD 165s, maybe RD 350s in the 45-70 RB.
Maybe some RCBS 200s or Lee 220 (If they will shoot with nose filed flat) in the 338.
Hate to carry lead projies as they seem to scare the deer away!
Coated 129 and 140 in the 6.5X257 go to gun!
150 and 165 coated in the coated projie 06.

At some point I'll be in the heavy timber with a Marlin 336 bored out to 38-55 with a cast 250 gr bullet running 1400 fps. In the more open terrain I'll probably use one of the 250-3000 rifles. The M99R 250 is in need of some hunting and the Ruger M77 Tang Safety is always ready. If I make it out during bow season it will be with a Mission cxb 320 Xbow

Big bore Gp100, 41 or 44 special. Rifle will be the NO1 in 7.62x39 first, then one with a Rem 141. May thake the 16ga out with slugs some too.
Forgot to add, I'm a copper free area, lead only.

Horton Crossbow ... used it on a doe already , may take 1 or 2 more does if I can get out enough
BFR Revolver in 45/70
Or a Marlin in 45/70 if the weather is rotten

LOL IF Needed ..... Then one of several 50 cal front stuffers with a Maxie ball in front of 100 gr of 2F

1885 Winchester 375 H&H with cast, 500 S&W Encore rifle with cast, or a 6.5 Grendel. It will depend on where I'm hunting.

Been hunting with Mission X-bow, three weeks prior to. Rattled this guy in, couldn't get off a shot due to branches in the way.

Rut should be starting very soon, so it will be back out with X-bow.

Gun season (Nov. 10th), will be using 1894 Marlin 44 magnum with RCBS 300 SWC, hollow pointed by Eric.

7 1/2" BFR in .475 Linebaugh. 395 gr. Accurate RF GC. 2X6 Bushnell Elite scope. I took 5 whitetails with it so far. If I can get my 14" Contender in .375 JDJ working in time with an Accurate boolit I'll try to take my doe with it.

Haven't made out the line-up yet, if I even go. Chemo is keeping me pretty knocked back. Whatever I decide to do the lead off will be my ever faithful "E. Goldmann in Erfurt" German double rifle in 11.15 X 60R. After that, who knows what whim might strike me? I almost always carry a different rifle every time I go so we'll just have to see.

M1895 Win, .30-40 cal, 215 grain Accurate grease groove bullet paper patched. So far, medium antelope buck at 159 yards, 1 shot to neck. Deer season starts next month. I can't seem to draw an elk but the 95 would/will suffice for them all.

Wicked ridge xbow for archery.

H&R/Marlin 45cal smokeless MZ for muzzleloader season

Glenfield 30a, rebarreled, rebored and chambered for 2.5" 410. JES rebore, 5 groove 1:22 twist. Launches a LWNPB 260g boolit at approx. 1,800 fps. Hot handoaded ammo.

Took a buck last weekend at an early lottery hunt. Cheated, used a RARR 450BM with a barnes xpb.

due to a severe injury which has made me a lefty for at least this season, it's going to be a single shot 12 ga. with one of my cast lead round baller's. lucky i'd already cast a supply of my .702 pure lead balls, as right now I can't cast at all. not a bad thumper to fall back on :)

My opening day tradition is to hunt with a rifle I've yet to kill a deer with. It has broadened my experience and enjoyment. I'll wait for close shots on opening weekend. My 44-40 gets first crack at it, followed by the 38-55. But the .30 Carbine and .300 Blackout deserve a go as well. The others pictured are JIC season runs long and freezer is light on contents[emoji16]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181027/066fa8b224df99ae41c7e8b116b9b16f.jpg

Our archery season has come and gone, but I ended up harvesting a 6pt. with my Excalibur 380 ExoTrix. The Smoke Pole season is wrapping up and I've toted my T/C Encore 50 cal for it. For our gun season I'll be putting my newest eddition, 445 Super Mag 14" MGM barrel for my Encore to work with my 300gr. cast boolits from a Accurate 43-300CC mold over the top of 28gr. IMR 4227. After that there is no telling what may be out on critter patrol! Good luck and be safe to all this saeson. . .happy hunting.

I've got 6 tags to fill this firearm season. Will start with my old reliable Bubba'd No4 Mk1 303. If I'm fortunate enough to bag one early, I'll put my recently acquired K31 into the line up. My 4" 629 will be on my hip the whole season in the event any deer get up close and personal to one of my stands. Fingers crossed!

Filled 1 archery tag with a carbon express piledriver 390.

For rifle season 45 70 marlin with 405 grain bullet and some blue dot should do the trick.
For muzzleloader TC 50 cal and the lee real 320.

Good luck to all.

So far this year I have used a 50 cal CVA optima muzzleloader on an antelope buck, my 25-06AI on a buck and doe mule deer, and my 338 Lapua on a cow elk. I have another cow elk and a doe antelope tag yet. I’ll probably still pack my 338 for elk, but maybe my SBR with the 6.8 upper or maybe my 7-30 waters for the doe antelope.

I missed a nice 22” wide 142” 5x5 mule deer with my long bow, later in the season watched my buddy kill him in his bed with a 200 yard shot with a 6.5 Creedmoor.

I'll start with my nearly completed 35 Whelen Oberndorf 98 WW2 Mauser. It's in a cut down military stock, waiting patiently for me to finish and glass bed it's sporter stock, and add a single stage adjustable trigger. Shoots the RCBS 358-200 into 1" at 100 yds. Gas checked, powder coated, pushed by 30.5 gr surplus 4895 and a CCI250. Haven't chronoed this load yet. Waiting in the bull pen is a 1955 Winchester 94 in 30-30, sighted in with a Lee 311-170, 29 gr IMR 3031 doing the acceleration honors, also grouping very well.

Took a doe in early antlerless season last week. I used my JM 1894 Marlin in .44 with a 265gr RD boolit over 2400. First deer with the little rifle.

I haven’t decided what rifle to drag out for buck season but it starts Thanksgiving week so I have time. Until then I’ll chase them with the xbow.

The exit hole was pretty big! I don't know how it kept from getting into the intestines but glad it did. She dropped like a rock at 116 yards.

Focus this year is on filling my bull elk permit, first in line for that is my old reliable m700 7mag pushing 168 gr Berger VLDs, which I also took after mulie bucks opening weekend. Next up is the brush gun, my 7.7x58. Just got it so I dont have time to work out cast for it this season, so it's going to keep running 180 Speer rnsp for now. Will take at least one deer with it, and its along for the ride elk hunting in case. Have to do a write up on that rifle once i get it all out together, likely after the season.

First choice is Swedish mod 67 in 12.7x44. Second up is a 67/89 in 8x58RD. I have a scope on the 8mm and have already killed a coyote with it.
Both guns shoot very well but due to amacular degeneration in my right eye Ive had to start shooting left handed. It seems really odd.

I think I’m going to go out with my 357 Blackhawk. I’ve been working with it and have gained enough confidence to take it out solo and feel confident in myself with a 50 yard shot opportunity should one present itself. If by the late season I haven’t had any luck, the the Rossi M92 in 357 will be employed.

For the SE Alaska Blacktail I am gunna be sporting my Newly completed M1 Carbine Bubba Gun sporting a 311410 hollopoint. Country is so thick here, would be lucky to get out to 40-50 yards...
229531
for my bow time, I will be sporting FMJ arrows with the G5 monotec from my old but dependable Bowtech..229534

I really like the G5 Broadhead in the thick brush we have here. Takes a lot more abuse then mechanical types.. and I can shoot it with confidence in the thick stuff to 40 yards if the way is clear, same as my M1 Carbine.. took a nice black bear last year with the G5-Bowtech combo. It makes a nice hole and there was even a blood trail, a rare thing in the rainforest. Sometime I will take an example pic of how dark and thick the forest is here in SE Alaska. You gotta see it to understand as it is nearly impossible to penatrate at times...

Going to be using a couple new ones I picked up this year . Got a 357 max 14 inch contender shooting a 180 gr wfn , a Stevens 325a 30-30 that will be shooting a rd 165 and a Henry big boy 45 colt and would like to try my Ruger gp 100 357 mag . Its just hard to decide what to take haven't taken any game with any of them yet . Took the 357 mag out a couple seasons ago but didn't have any come in close enough put a ultradot on it this year feel confident out to 50yrds using the same 180 gr wfn as in the max .

I just had heart surgery 1 month ago so I have to take it pretty easy for a bit. I have a archery hunt planned in 2 weeks from now and that will be with a Parker crossbow. For Ohio gun season I usually try to hunt with a rifle I haven't killed with so I have single shots in 357 max, and 45-70 that need blooded and a new Henry levergun in 45 Colt so different days will be different rifles.
For muzzleloader season I have killed with all of them I owned but my 45 cal. Smokeless gets used the most as it can reach out and is very accurate.
Any deer is always appreciated and this year I will be blessed if I can have the opportunity .

This year's deer rifle will be a Ruger No. 1 in 9.3x74R stoked with a light charge of 28 grains of 5744 behind a NOE 285 gr. Lead boolit at 1450'/s. I don't yet have a mould for this rifle and will be using boolits which were gifted to me by 15meter a while back. I am confident this will do the job if I do mine. It is very interesting reading over the various posts on this thread. Lots of different calibers used on the Wiley whitetail. I usually try to take a rifle that I have not taken a deer with if I can. Like so many others here I want to use a lead boolit as well.

I will be using my 458 X 2 inch, with 335 grain semi-spitzer cast boolits. I am getting 2260 ft per sec with H4198 powder, and I know it will do the job...…….

That was a nice buck, shame they didn't find it.

Nice looking rifle too.

458 SOCOM shooting a 405 grain 45-70 boolit. Got a nice 7 point buck with it.

I have to neck turn cases for shooting cast lead and had to grind the feed lips back on a magazine to properly feed wfn boolits.

Being in Alaska, my season is over. I used a 1941 model 70, converted to left hand and rebored to 35 Whelen to take my bull moose. I spined it and finished it off with a 500 Linebaugh and 435 grain WFN to the head. A young lady from our church whom I helped fill her cow moose tag used my 8x56 Mannlicher Schoenauer and some 75 year old Western ammunition to take her cow with a good lung shot. I finished it off with a 45 Colt and 300 grain WFN to the head.

I was stupid and took my 280ai with 140gr Accubonds because I didn't have time to get a 45-90 setup and practiced with out to 200 yards. Got a 94 yard broadside shot opening day. ughhhhh

Opening weekend I will be trying to use my 45 Colt Blackhawk. Later in the week I may loose what little patience I have and breakout the Yugo M48 Scout rifle? If I get really desperate, out come the .358 Win, really WHACKS EM!

Change of plans, I just got a new Remington Model 14, 35 rremington! First deer gonna be with the new toy and a 220 gr NOE /rcbs clone! Probably gave too much but it had the Lyman peep that are scarce. Once in my hands, deal was done.

The peep sights for those are worth about what the rifles are. I need to get mine out.

It was about a forty yard shot and he ran about fifteen yards. The exit is on the other side and farther back on the rib cage. 46-405A crimped in the groove with 27.5/lilgun. 50/50 alloy sized to .460, I get some skidding with this combo that I have to keep an eye on.

I had 3 days off for the first part of the season and the weather ranged from drippy to rain till Wednesday when it snowed. So I stuck with the AR and let it get wet. The scope held up good.

Texas by God, thanks the upper is new but the lower has a few thousand rounds through it. Had to buy one of those anti walk kits for the trigger pins.

I'll be using my new to me Ruger SRHawk with Missouri Bullet Co's 300grn. "Hammer" on top of W296 19.2 grns. Been out and did the ladder test from 19 grs -20 grs. in .2 increments. 19.2 won out with 2 one hole shots out of 5.
