What are you planning to shoot it in?

Are you wanting it for hunting/defense/plinking/?

What did the barrel or chamber slug out at?

Here is a link to the Hodgdon reloading data site. There is data there for Hodgdon, Winchester, and IMR powders in most calibers. There is data there for 158 grain cast boolits.
It works fine with that boolit.

I use 6.1 gr of Herco with that bullet. Alloy of 2lbs coww-1lb soww sized .358 and lubed with Tac 1. Fired in a 4" Ruger Security Six. This bullet weights approx 164grs lubed with this alloy.

The Lee 358-158-RF is outstanding for 357 or 38 Spl. Use your Lyman 50th data for 160~170 gr. cast boolits. Start with the STARTING LOADS and work up. The powder manufacturers sites are another great resource. I'd also recommend Skeeter Skelton's article "My Friend, The .357".

You still haven't mentioned what you plan on shooting them out of.

For a long time, under a 158 grn boolit 4.6 grns unique in a 38 special and 6.4 grains unique in a 357 mag.

Check posted load data, this falls in the safe zone.

In a 357mag the majority of what I have seen is 12-14gr 2400. I like 12gr in mine. With the bevel base cut out of the mold it comes out at 165gr and running 1200fps.

Generally, as long as it's the same weight bullet. Common sense applies (don't start at max - duh:p)

I've shot a lot of 'em over 5-6 grains of 231 in a .357.

I used 3.2grs TiteGroup in .38SPL, for the kids Cowboy Loads. Or 3.5grs of Bullseye. Never loaded it in .357Mag.

Hs6 also worked good for this bullet in a 38. I got better groups the higher the charge hope that helps

a 158 gr bullet is a 158 gr bullet any data for 158 gr should be just fine. you say you have a lyman manual well there you go. i will say i like to check several different sources. powder companies have load data on line alliant will even send a free manual if you request one. you can also try http://www.handloads.com but i look at loads submitted by individuals with a grain of salt.

I shoot the Lee 158 RF's lubed with LLA/Mineral Sprits over a "moderate" magnum dose of AA#9 or A2400 in my Rossi R92 and Ruger SP-101. Up to 1600 fps in the Rossi and 1200 FPS in the SP-101 and no leading issues that aren't easily handled. Of all the other projectiles I've loaded, these are only surpassed in accuracy by the HNDY XTP and Nosler JSP. I like the LEE boolits.

Ty all for your help.I mentioned above I was shooting out of a 357. So from what I understand is the shape of the bullet doesn’t matter but the weight does.So with 158 grain bullet I can use any data for any type of 158 grain bullet.Im a newbie but I thought the shape of the bullet might have specific load data.

Also I forgot to mention I am powder coating them.I have shot about 500 boolits I have made already with the lee 105 grain semi wad cutter and minimal leading,they shoot like a dream.

Russman, I also love the little Lee 105 gr Boolits, light loads in 38 Special cases in my GP-100. Almost no recoil, no leading and they cut a nice clean hole in paper! I liked them so much I gave my 2 cavity to a friend and bought a 6 cavity! I also bought a 6 cavity in that 158 gr RF by Lee. Good luck , have fun and be safe! Tim:bigsmyl2::bigsmyl2:

Don't forget ,just because it stated that the design is a 158gr doesn't mean that it's actual weight is 158gr. As I stated, mine weigh approx 164gr with my alloy. Shooting a lighter bullet weight using a heaver weight data I would think would be ok. If not, I'm sure someone will correct me.

I have that mold and then traded off my .357 Mag. It shot really well for the short time that I used it. I used Bullseye and True Blue.

7 gr of true blue under that boolit. Shoot very well for accuracy .
