Hello neighbors,

I am looking at a used percussion rifle. It is a modern build, not an antique.

It has what looks like a T/C lock in an after market stock. The barrel is plain with a stamping on it that says "MCW 177". The barrel also looks after market, not like a T/C barrel.

Can you guys help identify this rifle please?

Thanks in advance,

Steve in N CA

If it's the one on GB,,I think the marking is MGW 177.
If it is, it might be Mowrey Gun Works 177

Some spell it Mowery,,might have even been another co by that second spelling in the BP biz.
Worth some searching I guess.

Mowrey was a 70's and 80's builder of a boxlock percussion rifle (Allen&Thurber style?). They also dabbled in supplying BP pistol and rifle 'kits' and parts,,barrels I would imagine somewhere along the line.
They were in and out of business a few times and moved around. They were in Tx to start out, then in Ohio I believe,,maybe other places.
