Started shooting my Rossi single shot in 7.62x39 with some j-word bullet to start getting it broke in. Want to get a good cast hunting boolit for it. The bore slugs .310. For those of you that have them, what dia. does the Lee boolit cast at? I'm hoping at least .311?

BTW, it shoots about 1 1/2" - 2" groups at 100 yds. with 123 gr. Hornady's on top of 25 gr. of H4198. Only has a Tasco 4X scope on it so, I think I can improve on it with a 3X9 scope and a little more break in time.
Also, shot one hole (three shot) groups at 25 yds. with 100 gr. FN Rainier plated bullets on top of 5 gr. of Trail Boss. Opens up to about 3/4" at 50 yds. Sounds like a 22 mag. with about as much recoil. I am going to try and work that down a little to make a quiete small game load. I started with the 5 grains because that is a half full case.

Grizz , have you made a chamber cast ? What was your OAL with with the H4198 load ? For a new rifle it sounds like you might have got a good barrel on it shooting that good out of a raw barrel .

Icer, no chamber cast. I will have to look when I get home at the OAL, but it was shorter than the normal seating depth as the cannalure was below the case mouth. I did this to allow me to seat the short 100 gr. bullet at least halfway into the neck without having to change the seating die. The jump to the lands doesn't appear to hurt accuracy much since both loads are shooting well. Also, forgot to mention the Rainiers are the .312 dia. bullets for the .32 S&W, H&R mag. etc.

I just bought the Lee C312-185-1R for my .308. Sizing it to 310.

Can't say how well it works, we figured out my BSA scope is a DOA-***

I shot over 200 jacketed out of my 22-250 using the BSA, groups were like 8" at 50 yards.
I thought it was the H&R gun causing the problem. Never once figured it might be the scope. Until I put the BSA on the .308 (still shooting 8" groups) and put an antique weaver K2.5 on the 22-250 and started shooting 1/2" groups at 50yards. (groups are smaller then the center post on that old weaver scope :) )

Will, thanks for the reply. I'm looking to stay around 150 gr. with this little case to keep velocity up around 1,800 - 2,000 fps and I want a flat nose. I'm just concerned that the C309 mold will cast smaller than .311. But I could always beagle it... if I have to.... I guess (for all you Red Green fans).
