High Point 9mm Carbine.

What are the thoughts on this Carbine and has any one here tried cast boolits in them? I have read reviews on line and for the most part they are good. The thing is I wanted input from you guys, as I have more confidence of the members here.

As for cast bullets, I have not tried,, yet. As for the carbine, you can't beat it. I got it for a fun gun for the wife. Put a red dot on it and set up water bottles for targets. Hearing her laughter is priceless..

I shoot mine with the Lee 358-125-RF, powder coated, and sized to .357. They work and shoot fine

The grandkids enjoy it. I mounted a 4X. Shoots cast perfectly, I size to .358.

I keep looking at those every now and then. Maybe one day I'll get one but it would probably be in 10mm though.

Me too, but I size to .358. This little carbine is rugged, reliable and a load of fun.

This was my first 9mm carbine it is a good gun,cheap,accurate,fun to shoot. You have to try to find a boolit that wont chamber in it. My brother has the entire carbine collection the newer models are darn nice,you can mount anything you want to it.

I belong to a group that We all have the high point carbine, there are eight of us. We have all the cal.
I have the 45 ACP. I shoot only cast Boolits. I run H&G 68 200 grain Thur the 45 My bhn is 10 and I size and lube them with star lubesizer. I make my own lube. Medium hardness. No leading problems. We shoot with red dots to 100 yards and reliably hit steel 6” target. They are fun to shoot and no problems. I also did a trigger job and the pull is 4 lbs. 12 oz no creep. I rounded off the trigger and bottom also.

Love my 45. Shoots great, reliable until i pushed the +p too far (200 grain @1350 fps) then it started jamming. After i killed a 200 plus pound hog at 70yards (pass through just behind the shoulder) with my general plinking load i realized i was abusing it for no reason. It loves the lee 255rf at 950+ using cte pistol powder.

I have one now, had 2. Shoot nothing but cast through it.

125 gr rnfp to the 158 gr round nose it loads and shoots them all.
3 to 4.5 grains of Red Dot is what I run.

One of these days I should run a ladder test of 3.5 up to 4.5 3 shot groups just to see if there is a significant difference.

Mine (I have 3, 9mm, .40sw, .45acp) have all been utterly dependable. Drop a loaded mag and you may bend feed lips which might require a bit of tuning to fix. Learned that lesson the hard way.

I adore my Red Ball 20 round boomarang mags for the Hipoint. And I see Red Ball came up with a single stack to double stack for the .45acp. I see a few of those in my future.

No they may not be the be all end all do it all rifle. Might not even be all that accurate at long range.

What they have been for me is reliable, totally reliable. Bet the farm on reliable, and I don't bet the farm on nuthin.

Mine are setup with Red Dots, and are hanging out of sight but in a place easy to access.
IMO they would do very well for home defense in a pinch. Shorter than a shotgun, more rounds available, faster reloads, accurate enough for close range work. Mine would be some of the last ones to go out of all of my guns.

Use .358 size, its a real pain to clean out leading from an undersize cast bullet. Reliable, accurate enough for 50 yd which is about all I can see well enough for shooting with open sights. I have an older model. Horrible trigger but it works fine every time.

I is as accurate as any other semi-auto carbine on the market bar none. Pistol caliber carbines are not as accurate as bottle neck rifle calibers. The high point can hold its own.

For the price, it is a great little carbine to shoot, as it is my varmint gun, to keep things out of the chicken coop. Go up in price, and you have the new Ruger 9mm carbine, another great little carbine, for more money. I have the 995, and am very happy with it.

Thanks guys. You all gave about the same reviews as I got on line. I'm going to get two of them in 9MM one for me and one for my son. I've got to sell my Pedersorli Rolling Block 45-70 first though. I see on line that Cheeper than dirt has some for $234.00. I'm going to see if one of the stores in my area can come close to that price.
