Starline new releases....

I was checking out the Starline site today, appears 375 and 348 Winchester brass is on the horizon. Pricing is a bit puzzling though, as the 375 starts a bit under 60 cents a round delivered, which seems good, but 348 was about 1.70 a case, seems a bit high, since it's a necked down 45-70 case they've been making for years.....silver lining is at least it's being made. Hope both are available soon. Bill in MA

The. 348 Winchester cartridge is based on the 50-110 WCF-not the 45 70. That probably explains the price difference.
I have always considered the 33 WCF to be the better cartridge based on a common bullet diameter, but apparently I'm alone in that opinion. And it IS based on the 45-70!

Off the subject... The Cabelas up in Louisville has a 1886 in 33 winchester... I dont remember the price, but it was around 2k. Man... I drooled.

I got only one response

I have no idea why they have ignored the 30-30
I will just keep waiting and I bet they will be surprised ar how many orders they get.

Also, where the heck is the 32-40? Also the same case head dimensions.

Edit: And the 25-20? Again based on the 32-20 which they make.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the .32-40 too. Starline sent me free samples of 38-55 to try reforming and it didn't turn out well.

Did you anneal before necking? With Starline it may be necessary.

I didn't anneal. I had only read that very light lubrication is necessary which I tried to do, but got a lot of really fine wrinkles anyway. I guess I need to try again but with annealing.

Wayne... How bad is the weather there? My son and his family live in Herndon and appears they're out of harms way.

I'm glad they'll be making both, as I have rifles in both calibers. I have some original brass for each caliber and thankfully haven't had to resort to resizing other calibers to make do. As to the 348, I just thought they could have made it into the market more economically or perhaps in smaller quantities, due to the expense per case. Thanks Bill

I had to anneal before sizing 38 55 to 32 40. Most don't but I couldn't hold my mouth right. After annealing I lost 1 out of 151.

We all know that, except for the rim, a .356 Winchester case is dimensionally the same as the .358 Winchester.
.356 Win can be made from 444 Marlin brass.
Starline now makes both .358 Win. and 444 Marlin.
An e-mail from each of us to Starline requesting that .356 Win be added to their lineup may be all it takes.
Same thing with 30-30, 32-40, 25-20, etc.

Most of the 356 guns will feed 358 brass just fine. My Marlin does w/ no issues at all. I completely understand what you’re saying. And for people that want correct head stamps getting them to produce new brass would be great. But actual 356 brass usually isn’t required for the guns to function.

I don't think that Starline will produce 32/40 It seems I heard they have a Contract with Track of the wolf. this is similar with 8MM Nambu with Graf

I talked to them at the SHOT Show this past January about making .218 Bee and .25-20 brass, and they just laughed. When I told them Hornady was making .218 Bee brass, but that it was expensive, they said if they ever made it, it would be expensive. I told them I was getting about a 10% to 12% loss rate when forming their .32-20 brass to .218 Bee, and they said in production the loss would be even higher, which is why that brass is expensive. They said it wasn't going to happen, but maybe if enough people request it......

They're probably basing their price for the 348 off of the other current offerings from Hornady (it's nowhere to be found!??) and Quality Cartridge, I'm NOT impressed with the quality of it!, I have acquired several hundred WINCHESTER cases for my 348 so I won't be purchasing any of the Star Line.

Edit: And the 25-20? Again based on the 32-20 which they make.In a roundabout way they did make some 25-20 recently. Load-X is selling it. I had a chance to visit with those fellas and was told they'll make darn near anything for you - with an order of 100,000 pieces.

The storm went south of us. Atlantic Beach NC, Beaufort NC, and that area got slammed. We just had maybe 3/4" rain and a little wind. Our son and daughter in law live in Pocoson - Zone A evacuation zone, and didn't even see an increase in the water level in the ditches. Thus no significant tidal flooding either.

Skipper, It hasn't been released for sale yet, but from an email I received from them over the summer, said it may be out by the fall. I just happen to check the site a few days back on the status of the 375, when I saw that 348 was on the horizon as well. Thanks Bill

well I just ordered 250 rds of 30-30 from starline--and heard earlier this year they were going to come out with 32-40

Either way, this is exciting! I’ve been looking for brass for both 348 and 375!
