Morning all. I have a super 14 TC barrel in .375 JDJ that I am looking for mould recommendations for.
It will be used for hunting. What moulds do you all have experience with, and which made your guns happy.
I know that individual barrels can like different things, but would love to hear opinions.
I would love a wide meplat for a hard hitting boolit.
TIA, Scott

Do you have a preferred boolit weight? I have an accurate molds 335gr for my 375 Hurt&Hurt but there are molds from about 235gr through 335gr available. I'm not sure what weight is considered the norm for the JDJ, how does it compare to the 375 win?

I have shot some 270 grain j words through it, but I’m looking to tame it a bit. I’m thinking in the 225 range and slowing it down some.
JD Jones developed it to kill a Cape buffalo with, which he did.
It is a .444 Marlin necked to .375.
It is a hammer in a handgun.

What a coincidence. Just last week I re-started testing loads for my .375. I have a SSK made 14" 375 JDJ barrel. A friend of mine has a .375 from the now defunct TC Custom Shop. We went together and bought a 2 cavity Accurate 376275B which is a gas check mold. Mine is equipped with a 2 X 6 Bushnell Elite scope. It seems that depending what day it is, I'm getting good results with IMR 4895, IMR 3031 and surplus 8208. The last time out, the 4895 got the edge with groups getting close to 2" at 100 yds. This is with 100% WW and water dropped. I also had some that are 50/50 WW/lead air cooled that grouped the same. Depending what powder/charge velocities are from 1650 to 1950 fps. All loads are thumpers even with Pachmayr Decelerators. This boolit is working better for my SSK barrel than his Custom shop barrel.

I have a .375/444 Marlin (same as JDJ) on a No4 Lee Enfield action.

The moulds that I have found to work the best in my rifle are the Accurate Molds 38-265D and 38-275H.
The cartridge has a relatively short neck and with both of these moulds the gas check will be level with the base of the neck.

I really like the 38-275H. It's designed for the 375H&H and is a bore rider style but it chambers, feeds and shoots great in my rifle.

I'm currently casting and loading some 38-255CG. These are a 255gn bore rider style. I have not shot these so cannot give a valid opinion just yet.

Bosterr, that 376-275 looks like a beast.
I like the looks of the 375-195gc. May have to save my nickels to get one to try.

I took the number 376-275B off the mold itself. In the catalog the 38-275B is the actual design. Since the number "375" isn't in the catalog, what design are you looking at?

It is a 37-196cg. That might not be big enough??
Maybe that 38-200ag or 38-200p.

Those all look like good designs. I especially like the looks of the 38-200AG. I had sold my barrel to my shooting buddy who was the one who actually designed the boolit I use. Later he sold it back to me. He's also a very good friend of J. D. Jones. He told me J. D. gives all his chamberings a long throat because he likes to shoot the heavy weights. That's why my mold has the long nose with the tapered area above the driving bands. My buddy gave up on our mold in his Custom Shop barrel because it didn't shoot well at all in his. Who made your barrel?

Mine is a TC barrel. I bought it at a gun show.
It doesn’t say on the side that it is from the custom shop.
I may have to take a peek at that Lee mould.
It’s easier to get over a $20 experiment.

I tried the Lee 379-250-RF and it didn't do well at all. They didn't tumble, but didn't shoot much a group. That dosen't say they won't do well in your TC barrel. I still have the mold and still have some stored in a can. They're unsized and measure appr. 3795/3809. I can send you some if you want.

Bosterr, that would be incredibly generous of you. Thank you. I would love to try some just to see what happens.
