= nice filled out big (not undersized) boolits.

Little more than 3 oz of lead free solder into the pot.

I'll get the hang of this yet!

Now maybe a pid? Getting tired of having to watch the thermometer.

Sure you’ll get it sounds like your doing fine! And think of all the money you’ll
Save!
Isn’t it satisfying to cast your own? Completely rounds out and adds so much to my shooting and reloading experience.

you'll get it and if youre not building your own pid hit up hatch,he builds a nice one,i just got mine from him and it makes a big difference

'Glad you are having fun. And another vote for PID. You can make tons (literally) of beautiful boolits without one, but it just takes away the little task of watching and adjusting the temp as the pot level drops, and allows you to concentrate more on the cadence and the final product. Happy casting!!!

I got a PID online (the components anyway) and it's like night and day. Choose a temperature you want and it does it then find the optimum temp for your alloy and mold and you're set to go.

10# x 16 oz/#=160, 160/3=approximately 1%......Bingo
Mr. Fryxell in the LABSC treatise on lead and lead alloys favored balancing the tin and antimony for reasons either side of the bang.

Excellent! Yes to the PID. Purchased my first one and then made two more. Love them.

I cast using mostly clip on weights and I have not needed to add any tin yet. Most of my weights are older and that may make a difference. I have some solder stashed back if my newer weights need help. Glad everything is coming together for you.

I cast for 40 years without a PID. They do control the pot temp better that you can and you don't have to watch a thermometer.
