What mould?
What load?
Just fell into a Savage Sporter in 25-20. Very nice simple rifle.

There should be several threads around here, and a huge thread over on the Marlin Owners board, reloading section.
I load for a Marlin '94 25-20. Over the years i've used the Lyman 257420gc, a custom group mold from Lee that throws an 80 gr gc boolet that was designed for the Marlin, and lately the NOE 260283 mold that I ordered as a plain base. The first two I ran fast, but I've pretty much settled on the 260283 powder coated at just under 1300 fps with 9.2 gr 4198. The rifle is 110+ years old so why push it. Very accurate and does a number on small game.

Do a search. I got a few pieces of brass, 25-20 and 32-20 brass from someone here at castboolits 7 or so years ago.
He cast and loaded for both. I delete messages after a while so it is gone.

I also have a Savage M23 Sorter in 25-20. Mine has had the barrel shortened. I have a Lee Loader, Lyman 310 dies and Pacific standard dies. I cast 2 different bullets for it; a 257283HP which I cast very soft (usually 30-1 alloy), leave as cast, TL in LLA and load over 2.5 gr Bullseye for a subsonic vermin load. The other is the Lyman 257420 GC cast of COWWs + 2% tin and loaded over 10 gr H4227 for 1850 fps or 4.5 gr Unique for 1550 fps.

I also picked up an original Ideal tong tool with a mould attached. Haven't cast any with that yet.

How did you mount the scope? I have two holes drilled and tapped (factory) in the receiver at about above the bolt handle but nothing for the other mount.
I am curious.
Thanks,
Donald

I use a double cavity Lyman, 257420. I shoot it in my Jeffery Rook rifle that's been re-lined to 25-20 WCF but I load it to the original 255 Jeffery ballistics. It's been a really good bullet for me in that application.

I have a Winchester 92 and a Remington 25 in 25-20. I have only used one load in this caliber since the 1960s. The load came from John Wooters and is Lyman 257312 (90 grain GC) over 9 grains of 4227. Excellent load and quite a number of critters have bit the dust because of it.

I recently bought 2 molds for my M92 25-20.
257420 and 257312. I haven`t cast with either yet due to the hot weather.
I have been loading 6.5 gr. 2400 with an 86 gr GC boolit I bought from a vendor here.
It chronographs at a little over 1400fps...dale

I D&T'd the front 2 holes as I have a Forster jig. Shouldn't cost too much for a gunsmith to D&T the 2 holes. A jig is really need as the "receiver" is actually part of the barrel so lining up the 2 new holes vertically with the 2 rear holes is critical.
