It was pretty close to home here recently, two officers in the suburbs of KC were killed transferring a prisoner. Not sure of all the details, but the thug apparently got ahold of one of their sidearms. The male officer was DOA as I recall, the female looked like she was going to pull though but passed a few days later.

Anyway, the male officer's young son has expressed a desire to collect police patches and the local sheriff's department is trying to help him out. I know we have a lot of current and former LEOs on here, so please spread the word. Story is here;

For those who don't do facebook, here is the address to send a patch to;

Please mail patches to:
Wyandotte County Sheriff's Department
c/o Jared Gambrel
Patches for Connor
710 N. 7th Street
Kansas City, KS 66101

This is a sad reminder of the risk being an LEO, please remember to keep the retention devices in your holsters actives and don’t loosen them up just because “ they draw better that way”

I'm not LE or even former LE but I have friends that are. I'll ask around, maybe we can scare up something.

I'm going by the police department here tomorrow to talk to the chief. I'll see if I can get one.

Will go see my local cop buddy and see what I can find for him. Just think every patch he gets is someone that heard his story and was moved to help a stranger over a very bad time in the rest of their live!

I sent myself a reminder to my work e-mail so I can drop one in the mail for him.
