The seller is right, it's a mold blank. For those who cut their own molds. Didn't know Lyman sold them, but that one looks rather old from the box.

That particular mold is the only mold legal in the peoples republik of kalifornia I think.:twisted:

Yes, I bought it at a gun show eons ago. Figured at the time I'd eventually get it cut to a custom design, but when I never saw another one I decided to keep it as-is as a curio. Having the box marked BLANK enhances the collectability, at least to me. By the way, that was a good deal you got on yours. I've seen routine 9mm and .38 designs go for three times your winning bid. E-bay prices on moulds don't seem to correlate with rarity or anything rational, really.

You would think Lyman would still sell blank moulds. They don't really have to do anything once they have the blocks but put them in a box and send it off. I never inquired, though.

Lyman doesn't list a blank mold on their website, they have repair kits and individual parts for molds but no blank mold blocks listed. RCBS DOES list a blank mold block, special order for $104
