i want to start casting
i measured the cylinder throats, all are .452"
i can't force a bullet down the barrel easily, but the business end of the barrel measures .452" (not land to land)
should i cast & size bullets for .452" or .454"

Size them to .452" as if you go bigger the cylinder throats will size them down to .452".

I am greatly pleased to hear that Rooger may have corrected their odd cylinder throat dimensions. My two Bisley Vaqueros and my regular Vaquero 45 Colts all had to be reamed due to way tight throats. All three barrels slug to .4515". My .454 reamer actually sized the throats to .4535" and my cast boolits drop real close to .454 and are lube sized in a .454 die. I shoot a boolit I designed (PRS454-350-RF) and is produced by Lee in the six holer and sold by Dick Dastardly through his "Big Lube" site. My Roogers like 'em better than any other pill for Holy Black with home made lube or heathern fodder with Lee tumble lube. With heathern fodder, they also like the Lee 452-255-RF (my copy drops pills at .454). It is my observation that the modern sized barrels don't mind one bit about sizing down a .454 lead boolit and the boolits don't mind either. But, shooting a big lead boolit through tight cylinder throats into then larger barrel creats poor harmony; expecially with Holy Black.
