Dove huntin has gone down the tubes because of too much rain, been watching hog movement on my deer spot .

Hogs moving again today. Took 4 boars this afternoon. My son took 2 and I took 2. He broke in that 1894 for me. SBH performed as always.

Shots taken between 50 and 20 yards. 3 hogs weighed a guestemated 50lbs and one a bit smaller....35ish.

Bullet was a RCBS 250 KT..........cast from straight WW's at 255gr

These came out of the same hundred or so that are working the area.

.44 Magnum in that 1894? Pretty good shooting, says I.

Lots of sausage for you this winter!

Is that your younger or older son? Congrats. Wondered where you been. BTW are there any sheep out there where you got those hogs?

Sheep again!!! I'm not surprised... I told you about his obsession.
Are those hogs or more correctly, javelina?

I think Scrounger and Carpetman both need to go get a sheep of their own...do what they are always saying the other does with them and post the video on YouTube for all to see, it is the only way either of them are ever going to get beyond their hankerings and desires. Do not fear youtube will let it play, there is already a video of Tom Green humping a dead moose on there. The two of you can call it thereapy if you like.[smilie=1:

Those are feral hogs....javelina are a whole different creature altogether, and neither of them look like sheep or get lanolin all over your knickers. :)

Carpetman lives in Tom Green County, but if I recall correctly Gen. Green is no longer with us.

No sheep, at least not any that haven't already been stump broke.....Not a challenge for the likes of you.

That's my oldest son.

1894 is in .44 mag.

Javelina are a whole different critter. These are feral Hogs.

Outstanding .... I hope it was your son that made the 2 head shots. Its good to see a young hunter have success.

Negative.. dont wish them on yourself, they are fun, but a real plague. The county that I live in has erected a "Pig Crossing" sign in its most southern region ( about 5 miles from me) because of so many accidents.

My sons only shoot behind the shoulder( Which is probably best). I took both of those head shot pigs rather close to me.

Load is a FUll charge of win 296, just a smidgeon above whats printed in my manuals so i wont print it here. no signs of pressure out of any of my guns.

I'll tell him you said congrats. Both of my young sons are quite accomplished Hunters:

Both boys elected to take 7 point "Cull" bucks last year. These are their best deer to date. I wouldn't even try to count how many Hogs...

This year could prove to be VERY DIFFICULT. Although I've seen a couple of bruisers already.I saw a buck that looked to be in full RUT already this afternoon. Tounge hanging out and running the hell out of a doe. About 2 1/2 to 3 months too early....( they usually rut in later november to december)

They started peeling ther velvet 2 weeks ago.

Gun season doesnt even open until the first full weekend in NOVEMBER.

I gotta come visit you and hunt some pigs and deer. Don't have any pigs up here in Northeast, sometimes I also wonder about the deer, they know when to hide during hunting season.
