I've had this original box of 30-06 Frontier Cartridges in my ammo locker longer than I can remember..late 60's early 70's ?
Any input as to the value as collectable is appreciated.

I believe, and have read that Frontier [Hornady] used re-claimed military brass and loaded their own bullets in the cases and sold them as Frontier before Hornady became a cartridge company.

The head stamps of the cartridges in the box:
TW 52, 53 Twin Cities Ord. MN
LC 54 Lake City Ammo Plant MO
SL 54 55 St Louis Ord. MO
RA 55 Remington Arms CT
FA 55 Frankfort Arsenal PA
And one cartridge with a TW 42 Dark one, bottom row center

I remember seeing Frontier .30/06 cartridges loaded in military cases in the late 1960s.

I guess that would be about right........just never shot them in my Ruger 77

I'm in the same boat.
I have a few boxes of these & have often wondered with the price of ammo if I should just shoot them up & save the box?

Almost everybody collects something. You just have to find someone that collects what you got. I have lots of stuff that is collectable. I just need to find the right person. (before I kick off and someone throws it in the dump)

Condition is everything in collecting.

My condition is, stocked up on .303 brass, after buying more Frontier the other day.

Realistically, any collectors value is in the box, not the ammo. Because if you think about it, without the box (even with it) you probably can't prove that it's anything more than a collection of reloaded mil-surp brass.
You can hang onto it because it's kinda neat or you can shoot it up and reload it again.

That was Hornady's entry into marketing loaded ammunition. They did 30-06, 308, 30 Carbine; I fired a lot of it when I didn't have time to load my own.

I am pretty sure I have some 30-06 cases with the Frontier head stamp on the base.

I remember buying quite alot of these boxes of cartridges and feeding them thru 2 `A3 Springfields that had been `bubbaed` by someone else. I reloaded the brass with 150 gr. FMJ and correct M-1 powder and used them thru my 2 M-1`s.Robert

I have Frontier boxes with FRONTIER headstamped on the brass cases.
