View Full Version : Got my CVA lock fixed

Removed the short striking hammer from the CVA Mountain Rifle. Replaced it with a Tradition's of set hammer. Also filed the nipple down in height as was suggested. Tested it with 5 percussion caps. Single trigger and set trigger. 5 caps....5 shots.
Waiting on my thicker (.015) patching material to get here. Then it is off to the range to get her sighted in.

If you live close to a Walmart, they sell that blue/white striped pillow ticking and it is about 0.015 thick. I use spit if not too hot or Bore Butter if over 80 degrees as the spit seems to dry immediately? But a yard of that stuff makes lots of patches. I tried making them "round" or sort of and some just square cut and at 50 and 100 yards there was no accuracy difference with a pure lead round ball!

I cut mine to 1 1/2 inch square.
