Like a lot, I have problems with Windows 10 . Since the last "upgrades" I have a recurring problem - screens minimize on their own and sometimes close on their own - while I'm entering stuff ! Really aggravating.
Possible I have a virus my AVG did not get but sure is a coincidence that the weird stuff started after updating.

I can be typing and then each keystroke causes a computer sound and no letter is entered !

This screen has minimized twice as I was keying this !

Also, logging in with the PIN has become very slow and requires 3 tries at times so I've been leaving the laptop on.

Appreciate any guru's comments.

sounds like something broken (hardware) in the path from keyboard to motherboard.

a beep on keypress with no character input is old school buffer overflow/full error notice.
it could be a software problem using every last cpu cycle intermittently.
(virus,hung process)

sorry i can't be of more help "remotely".

good luck

untested windscrapp upgrades.

me too i'm plagued with the minimizing thingy since the last update.i've forced to install window 10 from window 7 premium .window 7 was working better.

also, i'm a combofix user, but not anymore since combofix hasn't been settled up for window 10.

i hate window, next laptop will be an apple.tired of the window's gremlins.

I had so many issues with the newest update (no sound and super slow boot times) I had to roll it back to the previous one. If you google "roll windows 10 back to previous update" there are step by step tutorials and youtube videos on how to do it.

Good luck!

AVG caused a lot of problems with the last windows update. I uninstalled avg and then the update went well. Do NOT uninstall AVG normally. I did that and my hard drive was unreadable. I got my clone out, made a new clone and did this..
Go to the AVG web page and get 'AVG remover' and 'AVG clear'. Run 'AVG remover', it will say that AVG is not on your computer, but click run anyway, then restart. Next run 'AVG clear' and restart. Once AVG was removed the update worked fine. It did take almost 5 hours after clicking 'update now'. There were a few times with the computer sitting with a black screen for several minutes, be patient.

I hate 10. My wife's new computer has it on there, as does my new Surface my son gave me for Christmas.
HATE.......HATE......HATE! I do pretty much everything for business presentations to customers and seminars on my iPads.

I use 7PRO on my office computers and know my way around like the back of my hand. Have had all kinds of "glitches" with the wife's 10. Can't find anything!

Look into that rollback thing! I will never get rid of 7 on my office machines. And I am looking into installing 7 on the Surface.

Good Luck.......................you WILL need it!

I stuck with XP until 7 came out. Both of those worked just fine. All the new computers in my office run 10 and seem OK, but I prefer 7. Really not down on 10 just not a first choice.

I quit using AVG when I had issues with my previous Laptop which had Win 8.1 Pro.
When that laptop fried a harddrive (then gave it to my SIL), I bought a "All-in-One" with Win 10.
The weird thing was, when new it was slower than my laptop was, but as I've used it, it has seemingly gotten faster?
The last update was yesterday, and no probs, thankfully.

As nicholst55 said Linux. I have ubuntu on one computer and Mint on another. I like ubuntu best myself. They are free. They usually do not require virus protection. Most programs are free. Ubuntu and mint work almost like windows.
If you can work windows , you can work linux. Did I say it is free. It is not a memory hog like windows. You can download and install it with ease. It will work circles around windows.

The Windoze A-V is pretty darn good these days. You are asking for trouble installing more A-V alongside ANY Win10 install. I have found doing a clean install after a few of their "updates" fixes nearly all problems, and if you can download and burn an Linux DVD, try it. Breathes new life into hardware that is about Win10-dead. My favorite lately is MX Linux. FAST and light. No surprises. Make that old computer useful again. Microshaft was smart.... give away the OS, and make it so bloated your old computer won't run it. ;-)
