Greetings Cast Boolit Brothers,

In a quest to find an alternative to 300 BO bullets currently offered in this weight range. This Boolit fills the void. This is a Boolit from a 45 2.1 design. It is described as a Cross between a Lee 230 and a NOE 247 which chambers better than the NOE with the ability of being hollow pointed.

A design like this will allow users to modify OAL easily accommodating a wide array of applications.
This is a 300 blackout specific Boolit and is designed to stack nicely in a magazine with little or no bulge. MIHEC has new machining equipment that can handle the length and diameter of this boolit and has assured me that it will run.

I have the NOE 247 and I was having problems getting them to stack in a magazine without bulging. Then I realized it was how I powdercoated them that was causing my problems. I think this one is cut thin enough in the front to powdercoat and not bulge a magazine.

I feel your pain. The 4 cavity brass is going to be heavier than you’re used to if you have casted a lot with aluminum molds. I would suggest getting the two cavity HP and the 6 cavity Lee style mold for production and everyday shooting.

The boolits are too tall to stand. So uneven powder coat will keep some boolits from stacking in a mag or chambering.

A simple holder can be made of 25 ACP or 9mm cases JB welded to a pan and put the boolits in base first. The noses will cook smooth and even and cure most of your problems. The only way I get the NOE 247 to coat good.

It needs a slight flat point to track straight trhough the target and not tumble or yaw. Im positive it will feed.

This is from the archives...so Im not sure if Miha has the cherry or not for this mold. That buy had 50 sign ups. Im not sure why this one is moving this slow. I expected to have 15-18 buyers by now.

By my estimation, we are looking at at least 4-6 months mold in hand. If we get 10 solid mold commitments, Im going to ask him to cut those first so we dont have to wait for 20 or more Hollow Point mold commitments.

What is the overall length of the bullet and what is the spec from the crimp cannelure to the to point? Reason I ask is I want to run this bullet in my 7.62x39 for subsonic duty. I have a Lee 311200 which drops a 205 grain round nose which works very well for subsonic 7.62x39, but an extra 23 grains OR a HP would be very nice to have too.

If thats your preference...its available in "no lube groove". In my rookie...non scientific opinion. I have found non lube grooved boolits more finicky to load forgiveness. I have deduced that during the sizing process..the displaced lead needs somewhere to go. During the firing process a lube groove allows a bullet to "bump up" more consistently. For general shooting, I found no difference. If you want them all to go in the same spot every time you pull the trigger. Lube grooved boolits, not too hard on the alloy and push hard enough to get no soot on the brass and no flash out the barrel.

About the aluminum molds, there is nothing wrong with them because I have an assortment of them but the brass mold are a work of art. They hold heat better in my opinion, but in the end they both cast great bullets.

I tried to superimpose NOE's last run and compare it to the profile of this boolit. If the drawings are accurate, hope this helps someone making up their mind about difference, etc.

I had to open up my feed ramp on my Ballistic Advantage barrel for NOE to work. I went through all other troubleshooting scenarios to come up to this final conclusion that I frankly did not want to mess with.

Hopefully this will help some of you on the fence. I'm still undecided if I should pull the trigger on this one as well. Even though the meplat seems smaller on the MP, theoretically making it chamber easier, it would be nice to have actual dimensions. The HP is definitely deeper on the NOE.

I have only used the 247 in 308 as a subsonic but I have found it generally accurate. Maybe consider trying a nose sizer, such as NOE offers?

The HP is definitely deeper on the NOE.

The original NOE wouldn't expand with WW alloy. At all. A fellow board member kindly took my mold and determined the dimensions you see in the current design. Now, with WW it expands at <1000 fps as in pic below. I have no idea if there are pin constraints with the Mihec style molds (or even if the drawing is accurate) but would like to see the HP a little deeper than shown. But I'll buy it anyway. :)

The last group bit of mihec’s that I did I got an invoice and about a week later a mold showed up on my doorstep. That said it’s my favorite mold ever. Be patient one day it will come but it’s always worth the wait.

If he offers and you choose the DHL option you will get tracking. If you do not pay for DHL you will not get a tracking number.

For what it's worth, it took about 2 weeks from when I first got my invoice/paid to when I got my mold for the buckshot group buy that just shipped out. I did not pay for the DHL option. It's signature required as well so plan for that.

Iron 369, I assume you are powder coating. Do you size after coating / baking ? Any unusual problems sizing after baking ? And how do they work for you ?? I've used 247 gr. store bought coated bullets for use as subs; but they had lube grooves. I've wondered if there were any metal displacement issues when you squeeze those down and don't have lube grooves to make it easier for the displaced metal to flow to somewhere else.

While his molds may be excellent I do not understand why a group buy that started on 3/22 is shipping now, when this one that has been closed for months has seen no movement. He has not answered my Facebook message respectfully requesting an update and so while his product may be great, his TCB skills (taking care of Business) are not so hot. I think in the future IF I purchase any more molds from him it will only be from his website when it is marked "in stock" I would rather pay a little more then get jerked around or put on the back burner.

As for them being the best in the world, that may be your opinion but it is not relevant from my perspective. I own Several NOE molds and they have performed in EVERY way. I have purchased them via their website, and via group buys. They ran on schedule every time, we were kept appraised of the status of the builds. They were also on time EVERY TIME so that is the lens that I am judging MP by.

Unforeseen problems with a distributor. The larger orders for pins and the fact that he hasn’t run this before slowed things down beyond what even he foresaw. NOE makes his own pins...but admits that even he would have to outsource the PENTA pin.

If you can go without the penta let me know which NOE mold you would like run and we can get you something sooner.

As for them being the best in the world, that may be your opinion but it is not relevant from my perspective. I own Several NOE molds and they have performed in EVERY way. I have purchased them via their website, and via group buys. They ran on schedule every time, we were kept appraised of the status of the builds. They were also on time EVERY TIME so that is the lens that I am judging MP by.

I have better than a dozen of the makers molds, the wait sucks, but is WELL worth it. Stuff happens.

I remember there was a sign up for this mold a few years ago and it got cancelled. It seems like this design might be cursed just a little bit. I can’t imagine it is easy to get that long, skinny cavity cut perfectly.

We will have it when we have it. It’s not like there’s somebody else out there making these molds. Close, but not quite the same.
