This is a heavy .41 caliber with all sorts of potential and versatility. Nose to crimp on this big bad boy is .430" so it should be perfect for the Ruger Blackhawks and Redhawks, I will measure my Smith shortly and get on here and edit that one in. As drawn it shows a Large, Medium, and cup Hollowpoints and of course a Solid Pin option. Gas Check and Plain base options as well as 2 or 4 cavity molds will be available. I can remember shooting a similar cast bullet at a rock at a bit over 600 yards with some friends. It is difficult to explain without having had you there to see, but this style shoots flatter, bucks the wind better, and gets there with a serious WHOP than most of the other sixgun calibers we were shooting that windy day.

As always, to sign up, we need your DISGUISED email address like this: sixgunman AT anynet DOT com
We also need to know 2 or 4 cavity, GC or Plain Base preference.
Invoice is via Email and payment is via Pay Pal.
Miha will set the prices when the time comes.
This mold is being run elsewhere so SIGN UP as it will likely close abruptly.

Large HP = - 17 gr. off bullet weight
Med HP = - 10 gr. off bullet weight
Cup HP = - 6 gr. off bullet weight

All pins come with mold. Large, Med, cup and blank pins. You can request a penta pin but I can't say for sure if Miha will include one or not.

This mold is being run concurrently on at least one other website that I am aware of. It is already at 15 molds over there so there is 22 in total thus Miha could close this at any time. I would suggest anyone interested not sit on the fence.

Put me down for one 2 cavity, Plain Base (If possible). If no one else wants a plain base, I'll take a GC if that makes it easier.

BTW My S&W 657 cylinder measures 1.780" OAL. I have seen case lengths up to 1.290". Starline, which I prefer, gives a range of 1.275-1.285. This boolit should work in Rugers and Smiths. Should give 1/16" + clearance. Somebody should confirm that.

Please disregard previous post. I don't drink or do drugs but I must have been on something when I posted the measurements of the S&W cylinder. This morning I measured the cylinder length of the Ruger .41 Mag Bisley. It measured 1.672". Something had to be off. Ruger cylinders are not shorter than S&W. I re-measured the S&W 657 and got 1.670.

What style GC's are these meant to take? Data on the GC shank would be extremely helpful.

NOTE: I would be interested in a 2-cav GC (w/ all pins) pending availability of GC's.

mopedmedic AT hotmail DOT com

NOTE: I would be using this in a Model 1910 Win .401... (the ORIGINAL "Hammer of Thor")!

(Edit: this resembles the Ideal 410426 with the nose chopped off... what is the OAL of the cavity?)

The Gator 410397 Gas Check will work and the gas check shank is .393"-.394"

The HP cavity dimensions are the intellectual property of the designer.

I am assuming you measured just cylinders' length, without case rim.

OAL of the loaded round; 1.285+.430=1.715

If so, this boolit will be OK for Redhawk, but I am afraid too long for Blackhawk and S&W, almost flash with front face of the cylinder.

Am I missing something?

OK! Lets start over. I went back and measured both the S&W 657 and the Ruger Stainless Blackhawk. I will just call each of them 1.672"(the Smith varied .002 when rotated). I then measured a new Starline .41 Mag case. OAL=1.280" Rim=.050"

1.280-.050=1.230"
1.230 +.430=1.660"
Using MAX of 1.285-.050(rim) +.430=1.665"

Even if brass is max length, this boolit should still work although very close. Trimming brass to 1.280, if necessary, would give a little more clearance.

Again, someone should check my thinking on this.

The Lyman Cast Bullet Manual shows 1.280" as the "trim to" length, same as my actual measurement. Starline website has a range of 1.275-1.285.

I would feel more comfortable if someone would either point out an error in my last post or confirm its' accuracy. I sometimes can't see the forest for the trees.

Granted there is very little room at the end of the cylinder. Close to max loads must be well crimped or what little clearance there is will disappear and possibly tie up the gun. I'm going to watch it very closely when I get the mold.

That is the reason why I even obtained 357 Maximum BH cylinder, hoping to make full length withing frame, and line bored it. Couldn't find smith in Canada to do the job, so I gave up. On top of that, stainless revolvers are the one I prefer for shooting; much less chance for corrosion, and in case I made scratch, couple strokes with adequate abrasive, and it looks like new.

Do not get me wrong, I just love look of blued guns, but the only one I will have (hopefully) is one of those Webley Wilkinson revolvers.

Componets

MP 413265 Hps & solids
starline 41mag brass
Case trim length 1.283"

Loaded
crimp at grove (heavy)
Col 1.710"
Clearance from boolit to front of cylinder when loaded 0.020
19.5gr H110

Measured using RCBS metal calipers.

No problems with boolit jumping crimp in the BH or my Henry Big Boy.

Hope this helps.

Site is up to old tricks. Quoted my post in notifying email but quotes Minerat in the post above.

I only used the crimp groove to nose measurement per the OP. I assume that you would have to get OAL from 2 dogs.

It will depend on what gas check thickness you use.

Mine measures 0.828" with copper gator check installed (416 Hornaday from Blammer) cast with #2 alloy

FYI, as cast no GC length is 0.812"

I'm not real clear on how or what you guys are trying to figure out with all that math up there. Let's try this:

We know ahead of the crimp groove on this bullet (NTC) we have .430" and a 41 Mag case is supposed to measure 1.290" so if we add that up we get an overall loaded cartridge length of 1.724"

You have to measure your own brass because while .41 Mag brass is supposed to 1.290" it will vary.

Now, slip an empty case in your cylinder. Measure from the back of your case head to the front of the cylinder. If it is longer than our hypothetical 1.724" this bullet will fit when seated and crimped in the crimp groove.

We also know there are 41 Specials and GNR wildcats and Lever action Carbines and revolvers of different makes. So be sure this one suits your needs. I hope this answers your questions.

What's going on with this thread is normal. We build up a list of wants and Miha builds the molds. A big spoonful of patience is required as these buys can take quite a long time. I wonder how the trade policies have impacted our group buys. Certainly there are tariffs now on steel, but I bet that is true of all metals. I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of our molds from overseas goes up....

This is also why I don't post prices at the outset. So hang on and we will all find out in due time.

My concerns exactly... which was why I wrote Miha a note about this on his website, asking about the very same thing.

It may behoove us to get this one done before the end of the year (while the "status quo" is just that).

Things go south trade-wise... and all bets (and future GB's) may be off. Just MY 2 cents..........

Third, remember, although he does speak English, it is not Miha's first language so we need to not be crazy confusing about disguising our email address. If you don't get a invoice in your email you ain't going to get a mold! This format will do: castbulletshooter AT snailmail DOT com

If we need further security than that, we will make changes at that time.

Last, I hope you had a fine Christmas and a have a better than ever 2019!!

Man, I'm ready for it. I only have one .41 solid mold and I'm bored of playing with it. https://www.marlinowners.com/forum/images/smilies/new/bebored.gif
A HP mold with different pins will keep me experimenting for a while.:coffeecom

I paid on Feb 20th and haven't gotten it yet. I was asking about a tracking number, because I understand sometimes the molds take longer than other shipments (for example, I've already got the other 4 molds I ordered, but this one for some reason is taking longer) No idea why

A tracking number from a package from SLOVENIA (Int'l. Post) is like looking for teats on a bull... don't hold your breath.

I've bought dozens of these from him and more often than not, there is a tracking number. That's why some people provide their zipcodes in these buys, so that they can identify their tracking number when he posts them all at once.

I have never had an issue not getting an MP mold. However, the issue is most likely with customs. Be patient a little longer. You will receive your mold, just a little later than you expected.

Mine finally did come. Some of them just take longer than others due to getting caught up in customs.

It is my understanding that he doesn't send out paypal invoices until the molds are boxed and ready to ship. Standard shipping is Slovenia post. Recently he has started offering DHL for an extra cost in order to provide the buyer a tracking number. I have probably 25 MP molds, all came Slovenia post. Most took 2-4 weeks to come across the ocean and through US customs. It is not a quick process. Most folks that dont want to wait order a custom one-off mold through accurate or NOE. They are domestic and arrive quicker. Knowing that it takes a few weeks for the mold to get here is part of the MP group buy no way around it. Dont worry, you'll get the mold, I know you just wanted it sooner than later.
