Few bears seasons ago they shot a 410 pounder about 100 yards from my mailbox. Last year was an off season...bad. This year in first season (TN has 3 bear seasons) they shot a 500 pounder in my vicinty, just over the ridge. That two seasons ago they shot a 627 pounder in the neighboring town. Number one bear rifle in this neck of the woods is a leveraction 30-30.
