Harvested my first- a nice doe bout' 120lbs, with my Marlin 45-70 guide gun.

Used the LEE 340gr (no GC), air cooled wheel weights and 38grs of IMR 4895 mil surplus.

Standing off hand shot at bout 50yrds, and hit right behind the shoulder, about an inch and a half below the backbone.

Bang flop and deader than a fence post where she was hit. Massive bleeding from a big hole in, and a big hole out...

Way to go Pat. They don't usually walk away from a load like you describe.

I'll be darned! I had no idea, a person could kill a critter with a cast bullet! What won't they think of next? Congratulations, and more success in the future!

Add my congratulations to the list.

Can't argue with performance like that. Add another one to the "cast is a game getter list".

Congratulations Pat. I can remember my first kill with a cast and that was 28 years ago. Makes you feel more of an accomplishment, doesn't it? -JDL

Excellent pat! Thats what I like about the 45/70 a big hole in and a big hole out, and you can eat right up to it.

lead + leveraction = liver

It all adds up.
