I don't Cast, so I will be ordering some Cast bullets for my 1911's.
I will be ordering some 200gr. SWC and some 230gr. RN
But what Hardness do I need so that I do not get Leading ?
I don't shoot Plinking loads.
The 200gr. SWC will be for IDPA type shooting, which I have never tried,
but will very soon.
I would like to have the 230's around 850fps. because that is about what my PD load is.
Also who is good to order them from.
Is Missouri Bullets a good place ?

Thanks in advance.

I have shot Missouri bullets in my 9MM with no leading problems. You should be OK with about any brand of commercially casted boolits. If you get leading it is probably a powder (burn rate) issue.

I shoot almost pure or 50/50 lead/ww out of my 45 acp. Sometimes i shoot WWs, i hate to waste good WW alloy on 45 acp. I know a fellow that has about 50 lbs of of 230 gr round nose/sized .452 possibly lubed also. I was gonna offer him $1/lb if you want them let me know. It's a long story behind these.

Thanks for the input :)
I placed an order with Missouri Bullets.
200gr. SWC @ 18 BHN
230 RN, They normally only make the 230 RN with a BHN of 12, but they are making me some that are 16-18 BHN
They said it may be a couple of days before they make them.

I believe the correct size in a bullet is more important than how hard the bullet is. You want a bullet that is .001-.002 over groove size of your barrel.
