I am wondering if someone can give me an idea of what I have. I bought an old 45 Lyman sizer a while back, (when you still could) on ebay, and it had some lube in it. I figured that I would get rid of the lube, but I thought I'd give it a try first. I think now I would like to continue using it, if other input is positive. The lube in question is black in color, and flows without heat.... I lubed some Loverin 30 cal boolits along with 311291's and 311041's .309 & .310. I know, it could be homemade.

Thanks!
Doug

Was there any leading when you shot the boolits with this lube on them?

Try it, and if you don't like the results get out the hair dryer and replace it with some FWFL.:Fire:

Haven't tried them...yet. I guess that was part of the reason for asking. I'm going to try those .30's with unique in a 30-30, maybe tomorrow or Tuesday.

Maybe it's Lyman's Moly lube.

If it's truely black,it sounds like the origional Lyman lube. I,too, just got another 45 Lyman and it came with two sticks of this lube. I have some bullets(31133) that I cast back in the early 60'S that still have this lube. Great stuff if you keep the velositys down to 1800fps or so. I have moved on to making my own lube and no longer use this lube,so....any thing to trade?

LY BlackMoly flows with out heat and was available as early as the 90's. If it is the original LY mold it may be hard and dried. Gianni
