Looking for some input on the Lee .54 cal minie ball molds. Mainly regarding what size the bullets typically drop at? I see they make two varieties rated as a regular 54 and an oversized 54. Also how do they shoot out of a TC Hawkin with a 1-48 twist barrel?

I have the improved version of the Lee mine ball in 54. First I will say that it’s a poorly made mold and is hard to use. I have no problem getting reasonable hunting accuracy from them but I much prefer the real bullet molds by Lee or just a standard maxi ball mold. My rifle is a t/c Renegade

Do they fit snugly enough to carry the rifle without worrying about them working their way off the powder charge? Or do they require paper patching?

They fit fine in my gun, no worries about them coming off the powder. I cast with pure lead as recommended. I have not hunted with them because I have 4 other molds that produce more accurate bullets.
