My 1853 three bander reproduction was made with a 48" twist bore so I'm not about to rebarrel it.
But... I've come to wonder about finding one that could use some new rifling and thought about adapting a 1853 to smaller bore with a fast twist.

Have any of you fellas done this? What did you end up with as far as bore size, twist, boolit weight?
New barrel or re-sleeve?

In essence you’ll be making a 3 band version of a Pedersoli 2 band volunteer rifle if you make it a .45 caliber.

I've read about various calibers made during the 1800's.
Got me kinda curious and hoped someone that had been down that road could weigh in.
I'm continuing the experiments with paper patching .50 molds up to .519 diameter this year. Not in a 1853 but a Renegade.
