Ingot making day

It is 34 degrees Fahrenheit with 12 mile per hour winds and snow on the ground outside, so of course it is a perfect day to be outside making ingots! All the lead was collected out of a range berm, I had about 5 pounds in my pot when I started and end up with 27.5 pounds of ingots.

Some math on 22.5 pounds of lead equals out to:
1,050 count of 150gr 357's
630 count of 250gr 44's
1,270 count of 124gr 9MM
1,369 count of 115gr 270 Win.
360 count 1oz slugs
875 count 180gr 7.62x54
Etc. Etc....

Good haul. But I prefer standard LEE/RCBS/SAECO trapezoidal 1# ingots for all my stock. Easy to stack. Easy to store. Do not fall over on my feet!

I have over 2K# of Pb and alloy in that standard format.

But Pb is Pb......in any form. Good show, my friend!

I was able to sneak in a melt a couple days ago and ended up with 28 ingots, Its always a good feeling to mark ingots and stack them up...or in some cases add to 5 gallon buckets of ingots!!

Must the something in the air, because I also did some smelting and alloying of my stash. I took my WW ingots and my stereotype ingots and using the alloy calculator here on the sticky, I combined these two to make a 2% tin alloy ingots. Ended up with 42 pounds of ingots.

I went cheap and bought a Lodge 3.5" mini skillet for my ingots at my local camping store for $5, I only have one so it take awhile but I my ingots are typically 1 pound 12 ounces.

No just did the math 22.5 pounds multiplied by 7000 grains divided by the grain weight of the bullet i expect to cast
