All the reloading manuals I have seen say Large Pistol Primer.
I use LP (Win) in my 1892 (27xxx) with 8-9 grains Unique 260g Rapine (.443)
I use LP(Win) in my Colt New service with 8-9 g Unique 200g (.429)
I have not yet tried the Black down here that looks like 3f but leaves a very heavy fouling in 12 guage.

Duke,

I normally use Federal LP in both my pistol and rifle. Though I must admit that LR works just as well. They are a little harder to seat but once you get them seated they work in both the rifle and the old Colt SAA. If you don't have the LR's seated deep enough you will know it when you load it in a wheel gun. No matter what primer, I always shoot 8.5 gr of Unique on the 200 gr RNFP boolit.

Best Wishes from the Boer Ranch,

Joe
