These were pretty challenging to cast. I tend to cast boolits around 600 degrees or a little better. But I couldn't get the point nose to fill around the point properly at that temp, so I went a little higher in the 700 degree range.

These are 350 grain .460 caliber boolits for my 1895.

Looks like a pretty good run of bullets. What mold and alloy?

I cast my HP's around 725°. You can get by with less, but I like a little frost too. I believe it makes my powdercoating stick a little better.
Nice work and have fun!

The mould is a NOE SC460-350-RF-AE1 RG4 cavity GC... And I mix lead / lino / tin to get as close to #2 as I can assuming my lead is WW. I water drop them and then let them sit out to dry.

I have been powder coating and I like how it turns out. I'll bump up the temp next time to see if I can get a little better fill out.

my PID indicates 715° which is my normal casting temp

HP need hotter temps for me to be successful

what metal is your mold made out of?

Brass - hotter should work fine.

Maybe a little more tin might fix the problem.
