Well after 16 yrs I finally got my 'custom' project rifle finished.....

Not much to many but it's my project and yes I got some help with it, but hey it's what I wanted and its finished.

mauser 98 action, shaw stainless barrel in 25-06, walnut stock, and a leupold scope.

now to go shoot it! Sorry only jwords in this power house. :)

stories abound on what "didn't" work and how it got fixed, weather it was a quick fix or 'when I get time' to finish it.

well it's finally finished, now to shoot it some!

pics later..

Some projects just take a long time. Post some pics one day if you can. The 25-06 is an awesome caliber, I have taken lots of deer with mine, both mule deer and white tail. Have even used it quite successfully on elk, although some people will tell you it ain't enough gun for that. I have used Hornady 117 gr. BTSP the most, as it has always given the best "on game" results. Nosler 100 gr. partition has also done well for me on the deer, never attempted elk with it. JW

Only 16 years, what was the rush? :)

Have an action getting fitted into a stock blank right now that was barreled 22 years ago... Still have bedding, finishing, maybe checkering to go,,,,
Enjoy the 25-06 DJ, dandy cartridge.

I know how some of those projects go that seam to take forever.

But a friend reminder me of this: If he finished all of his wife's projects there would be no use to keep him around, kind a makes sense why some things never get completed!!

Great, Darrell! Would love to see it. You may have noticed I'm finally getting on with my quarter bore project as well. Gonna be an Encore barrel since I lost everything on the Martini when my third gunsmith died without finishing it. That will be my 25 Krag AI 40degree. Bullberry will be making my barrel.

Congratulations, Blammer! These projects do go on like a life sentence sometimes. I can’t understand how anybody makes a living at gunsmithing. If I charged $1000 an hour for my services upon completion, I’d starve to death in a week.

Now’s the time to amortize all that work and skull sweat! Shoot the living daylights out of it!

You might notice later on that you tend to reach for that rifle more often than others in your safe. You put a lot of yourself into that one; it’s only natural.

Got’ny Pitchers?

I finished my 458ACCREL last summer to take bear hunting. Was strange to see it blued and not spray paint!

You know you'll eventually shoot cast out of it...I've got a Single-cavity Herters 100gr Spirepoint mold in 25 caliber if you ever get the hankering to give it a go...

If I remember right he got in on my .25 Group buy years ago. Leastwise, I hope he did!
