For your viewing, is my star machine works presses. I have a Total of 7 Usable machine
38 Smith &Wesson, 3 /// 38 special, Wadcutter, Semi-wad, Round Nose, 357 mag, 9mm, 45ACP. The 45 and one 38 are Pat pending which dates Pre war
I have a Star bench where one machine is Set Up. which the press can be Removed and a setup machine Inserted.
With Star Machine Works Back in Manufacture, Parts and some Presses are available. It is Difficult to Place These In the Vintage Area.
The only addition Is my Universal Indexer set up on The bench. I am Not a fan Of Boolit feeder Or Case feeder. But with a Good Coordination I am still able to Do 200-300 Per Hour
All Steel Nothing To go wrong No parts To replace
All of these I have had since The mid 1970's
There motto Hold True " Nothing like a Star" copied but Never Duplicated
Thanks For Viewing

Like a fool I sold mine. It could not match the Dillon for speed, but it brought back memories of first loading on my mentors Star 45 years ago.

Hey Sal,
Nice group of Star's
I only have the one currently set up for .45ACP with a separate crimp die, but I have a spare tool head set up for .38 Special Wadcutter. I use a Brewster Indexer and a Hulme case feeder.

Great line up Sal, and video Lindy. I have a progressive set up for wad-cutters for my S&W 52 and a universal with hulme adjustable charge bar for for my .45 acp. Neither have been getting the exercise they deserve. Dug my bullseye guns out today coincidentally for the first time in a couple years. Maybe this will kick start me. Only thing I really struggle with them is the powder dumps every time you pull the handle ready or not :-)

If nothing else, having a Star would be worth it just to admire the fitting and machining of the parts to make it work.

To fully appreciate the precision of a Star you need to try to get a Berdon loader up and running!

Seriously, I'm with you. All done with no numeric readouts, no CNC, just skilled machinist with slide rules and experience, . I think about every time I run one.

Just got one of these in a trade. Looks as if it needs a couple of parts. Dies in .45 ACP. Is this something to keep or sell? Anyplace to get parts and an owner's manual?

I have to admit this is the most intriguing thread I've seen on here yet. I have a lot of dinosaur stuff but nothing like a Star press! Thanks for posting!

Companies would go bankrupt quickly if they made Star presses today like the originals

You are probably Correct, Star today Is currently making parts to match originals. They are Taking Order on New machines. Companies are interested in cheap items for loaders. . they know there stuff will not last or interested in longevity. they Know most Loaders are Cheap and will not pay like other Sports. So why make anything so called Good

The Star press has always been a standard of quality. I have one in 38spc and one in 45acp. Still like them better than any other press. Your right about fine machine work 50 years and still working perfect.

I have 2 of the universals with heads for 45, 357, 9mm and 44 mag. I go on some auction sites a lot to buy others.

Well,
I am diminished. I only have five...but I have six extra head assemblies. Currently load 38/357, 9mm, 45 ACP, 45 Colt, 44 Spl/44Mag, am working up a die set for 41 Mag and 32ACP. Also have die sets for the .223 and 30 Carbine. All have case feeders, two have custom made indexers.

In the 80's I collected machine guns...the Stars got a lot of work then...now, not so much.

The Star is a machine work of art. all parts are machined to perfection., All machines work the same . If it Breaks you broke it. I have 7 // 38 wads, 38 semiwad/38 Rn, 38S&w, 32 S7W, 45acp, 9mm.
None of my machines have any attachments , no case feed, no boolit feed. just a smooth Dual hand movement. Sure other are good or faster But there is only one Star.
