can i use range scrap for paper patching 30-30 30-06 and mosin nagant?

Well, I'm not able to give a definitive answer but I have played with softer and harder alloys. Softer alloys bump up and fill the bore but also seem to cup bases and form trailing edge feathering.

By reducing pressure but presumably not velocity, I got this result.

I had good accuracy with the cupped based boolits in one particular gun. The same gum both boolits were fired from.

Harder boolits don't conform to the rifling as well and tend to cut strips in the patch along the rifling edges, showing lead to bore contact but not only that, the patch can get worn away completely under the lands. Not sure if that is a problem though.
