we bought some antique cabinets found a burial flag. tried to find out who the family is but no luck. now what to do with the flag ? thought of taking it to military post so it can be flown.

I also think you could just build or find a little display case for it, preferably with a light.
Make a little shrine if you will. Right there with the cabinet you found it in.

I never served, but if I had I think that would do for me. As long as I was remembered, respected.

You might want to check and see if its a 48 star ( WW1 or WW2), or 50 star flag, this might help to date it some. Jims from WW2 is a 48 star flag. I'm not sure it would be appropriate to fly it. But to display it would be more than honorable.

Ditto. If you already show this much concern for this flag keep it,honor it and reflect upon your own personal flag of the unknown soldier.I would not turn it over to the vfw or Foreign Legion as they would probably burn it in they next flag disposal ceremony they conduct.

Not finding out who was honored with this flag is a bummer for you and it's original intended recipient. Exhaust ever possible means and honor it as suggested. Somewhere there is the grave of an American that gave all and deserves recognition. Yours is both an honor and obligation to see it done.
