Today Mrs. Thumbcocker and I were at the range shooting a Marlin centennial 336 made in 1970 that I rescued from a gun shop for $375. A Tasco silver antler 3x9 was mounted and some noe Ranch Dog 165's were loaded over 16.0 of 2400. After breaking her third straight clay bird on the 100 yard berm she looked up at me, smiled and said the words that bring tears to any real boolit shooters eyes " I'm really glad you bought this gun.' Normally I would not share such an intimate moment but heck you all are pretty much family.

I'm wiping my eyes as I type this. Takes a strong may to share such a personal moment.

Seriously, that sounds like a nice rifle.

SWMBO's gun now, yep.

Ranch Dog 165gr I'd guess 30-30 but usually its SOME 30 cal variant :)

Looks like you got a "keeper" in your missus & looks like she got at least 2 "keepers" with you & that rifle.
;)

Thanks for sharing your "touching moment" with us!

I know what you mean by that my wife clamed a 22lr pistol of mine and she can shoot it real well now my son has clamed my Henry 444mag but that is ok as long as they like to shoot D Crockett

Is that what folks refer to as losing their guns in a "boating accident"?

Something similar happened to me with a 5.5" Bullbarrel Ruger Mk II .22. It has a red dot on it.

Mrs Bookworm shot 2 or 3 mags thru it, turned to me, grinned and said " I really like this pistol !".

I purchased another just like it, so I can shoot too.
