I swear, I was working on a server AT WORK last night, not the one here! ;)

Seems as though the server hardware puked out, there's engineers watching over the whole system now... I hate to put my faith in engineers but what the hey :)

rut-roh ... not engineers ... as a breed we like to tinker with things, not watch them.

I agree, Willy, because I are one ... an engineer of late. It is rare to fine a scientist, engineer, technician, operator in one person. Because each flavor, to be at their best, has to have a different mind set to be 100 percent effective in that role. Not many can switch gears easily, and especially upon immediate demand. ... felix

i thought you just got the 5 year warranty.....

felix

Warranty is about worthless for circuit boards these days. Tin is the culprit. Tin automatically grows whiskers when not alloyed with lead as in times past. Think EPA, think goobermint, think short circuits that cannot economically be traced. ... felix

Old tech, Felix. The mostly-tin solder alloys the electronics industry is using now are specially formulated to prevent the dreaded whiskers. I work in the industry and have confirmed this with those who work directly with the "green" solders at our company. The common alloys contain sliver and/or copper in small percentages.

True, Stew, because you said so and are you up to date! So, the boards with tough, gray whiskers are 'bout obsolete. Good riddens. I've had a few boards here of German import that grew gray. Hard to beat the ASUS main boards in design, though. ... felix

Yesterday I got a note from the Air Force Server administers that this site was going to blocked because it dealt with WEAPONS. I promptly fired an e-mail back that if I lost this Forum, they better start deleting all the references to Aircraft on the Air Force's Server as they are obviously WEAPONS as well.

I told them I'd compromise by having them categorize this site as a SPORT site. Sometimes I don't quite understand the Air Force's way of thinking.

As you can tell, I think I convinced them to let me to continue to see this forum on the Air Force Servers.

Thank God this site is back up and running. I had to go and cast some Boolits just to relieve the stress.
