Hi guys,

I'm running the Arsenal 225-61 Elvis cast with 91% lead, 7% antimony and 2% tin, -Hi-Tek Coated, shot from a DD chambered in 5.56 with a 1in7 twist. I found a decent enough load for some shorter range practice I am happy with using 19.6 gn CFE223. I am seeing a huge amount of carbon buildup. I have not used CFE223 prior to this. Is this much buildup normal? I have heard it mentioned that at lower pressure it may not be getting a complete powder burn? It's literally keeping the bolt assemble and cam pin from moving freely resulting in the bolt not going completely into battery. Can anyone give me some more insight into this? I am thinking of switching to H4895 which also had a good test but would like to understand whats happening too.

Thanks,

I have had similar results with light AR/223 cast loads using CFE223, TAC, & 4198. I am using the RCBS 55 GC both hitec and pc. Every powder had a point that the burn cleaned up significantly...below that I had the opportunity to use the FA button multiple times.

FWIW I am tinkering with TAC between 17.5 and 18.5 with a COAL 2.120ish
