So far the 4895 is showing great promis in every thing I've tried yet.

New to the list is my 336 in 30-30, with the FAT-30. Groups touched at 50, with a tang peepsite, and then one 1.5" flyer, and most likely was my fault.

Yesterday, I set up at 100 and my .223 with 55gr condoms and 24grs of the 4895 shot sub MOA cept for my trigger. The damn lousy trigger on my Howa is hard to squeeze off and with creep like a Mini-14. But if I hold her just right, and massage the trigger all the way through, holes touched at 100 with the 4895. I think if you could put this rifle in a vise, and fire it remotely, it would put em' in 1 hole...

And this is with a 1 in 12" twist that has shown before to like only 50 grainers and less with other powders. More cudos for the 4895.

Back to my 45-70 Marlin and the 38grs with LEE 340 at 100 this time. I had some touching, then flyers out 5" or so, BUT for these loads I didn't weight each boolit. I think this is what accounted for the flyers. Plus, I think a barrel cleaning is in order.

Also Shot my Marlin 336 30-30 at 100- tangsite peep, and Fat-30/4895, but groups were not good. This was due to the lighting at the target, which is mostley in shade, and bad lighting on my front site. I think if I was in sun, it woulda kicked but. Was within 4" so dead deers would be the result anyways.

My questions are:

If the IMR 4895 Mil Surp shines at 50, shouldn't it shine at 100 also? Problems would lie in items such as boolit weight variations, and other factors wouldn' it?

Can't wait to fire up my 336 in 35 Reminton with 4895. Marlin RULES!!..

That 4895 is one of my favorite powders in both persuations.

Hey don't let Bass Ackwards hear you talk about something bad on a Howa.

Yo, Bass --- what does this mean? I need a Howacertifiedgunsmif to interpret this somewhat long complicated statement in native Howaiese.

"The damn lousy trigger on my Howa is hard to squeeze off and with creep like a Mini-14. But if I hold her just right, and massage the trigger all the way through"

???? What does this mean in plain english ????

I speak modified Savage, PaulMausermil-std, Swede, Timmney, Steyr, Swiss, SKS, Mossberg, S&W and SpanishMauser and it sounds like maybe a Howa trigger is maybe worse than a Steyr mil-surp trigger?

Old Feller...

You can't judge Howa on one little unit can ya?

-My problem is I took it to a clown for adjustment, and he made it worse...

But I'll tell you what.. it's one fine rifle, and is at the top in my collection which includes the likes of Ruger #1, and a fine FN Belgian 98 commercial sporter.

Just got a raw deal of circumstances on the trigger is all..

I woulda got a Timney, but I've spent all my money on powder..

Yo, Bass --- what does this mean?

If you want to see how many bad triggers are on a particular type of gun, just look at the after market. If there is a market, there will be after market triggers. How many are there for a Howa? Then try to buy one. They make a batch about every 5 years or so.
