I bought some tin/lead bars today, actually i stole them for .75/lb. Can anybody tell me the facts on these bars "National lead co." lll There 3 number ones on one of them, some 40/60 yes 40/60 some 50/50. I've seen a thread on this but, do you think i can find it. Which number is which.

Did you have a mask & a gun? Six bits a pound for solder is a DEAL! The first number is the percentage of tin, the second is for lead. So, for the 50-50 bars, you paid $1.50 a pound for the tin. And that qualifies as a DEAL!

How about the bar that has 3 number 1s on it?

It might be hard to identify unless we had a sample "in hand", so to speak. I could send you an address to send some....

A possibility: III is just a spacer mark between the company name and the composition.?

Are you sure it's not meant to read as Ill.? Illinois?

Regarding the National Lead Company 3 digits on 1 lb bars.
I spoke with Nat. Lead some years ago
111 = 50% Sn, 50% Pb
666 = 39% Sn, 1% Sb, 60%Pb
Hope this is helpful
