The stock has no cracks, splits, or missing wood. It does have a few dings and minor dents as would be expected in a military rifle. The stock still features it's as issued finish.

For the bump - does the gas regualtor work (turn)?

Yes it does, with the supplied tool. Not so much for those using pliers (which I've heard of being tried) :-)

This is one well machined gun for a military weapon, at least the one I have is.
I would love to choke the person the cut my stock off about where the rear band would be and shaped it to utilize the front band.
Guess I have had it 20+ years and have never fired it, or even tried to load a round.
Handling it makes me think of the trusty ol M-14!

All that to say . . . Kewl gun Buckshot!

Someone needs to buy this and report back on how it does with cast boolits

It sure was! I still have 800 or so rounds of the Egyptian ammo left. It is VERY corrosive but shoots great. Fun rifles.

Since everyone else is bumping...
Back then I got a case of Israeli 8mm that was boxer primed.

Coveted that ammo to 7x57 and 7.7...

Also fed the FN49

Yes, that was actually made by Winchester. I've still got a few rounds.

Wow. Did not know that. It has Hebrew case head writing?
Again, just to be legal - bump for a fine thumb busting rifle.

Yup! Winchester did the head stamp also. It was some very fine ammo, non-corrosive, accurate.

...............I will have to admit that these rifles, (just like the Swede Ljungman) are somewhat classified as "Clubs'. :-) They're a rifle chambered for a 'Full powered' cartridge, but are not necessarily, sleek or svelte. I suppose they'ed be "Macho" and "Mean" :-) I also have a Ljungman:

http://www.fototime.com/2E27B7325B26422/standard.jpg

And it's about the same rifle, but in a bit sleeker and forgiving cartridge :-) IIRc when I first got this rifle the only 6.5 ammo available was PMC. True or not, upon my first firings (and 6.5 Swede of ANY make, or MODEL) was unobtainable) the ejection path of the empties was 'Considerable) I normally shot from bench #28. Number 29 + 30 were between me and the pistol line. The pistol line was 40 yards long. The Ljungman threw my very valuable 6.5 Swede cases all the way to the end of the pistol line. It was also as hot as a Fresh Fox in a forest Fire :-)

May as well add my two cents and bump it up again. Never owned one but did have the pleasure of shooting one in the late 70's. We were shooting at long range dongs. Can't recall the distance but we used to try for at least 300 yards. The beat up Egyptian rifle shot as well as other vintage semi battle rifles we had that day. Best I recall we had FN-49's, German G or K43, a Russian and Swede semi rifles I don't recall models of and a few M-1's. I recall a hodge-podge of 8MM ammo. The Egyptian and German rifles functioned 100% and rang the dongs as well as the M-1's.

Might that be "gongs" and not "dongs"?

To hit a "dong" at 300 yards with old surplus ammo is fine shooting

Sure is, whether the RVN coin kind or the slightly larger (varies) USGI kind.

Could be, the guy that brought it nick named it delta dong. He sang a short song with it mimicking the tune Delta Dawn, "prettiest target you ever laid eyes on". He was a National Guard sniper and barrowed them from the NG.

I do wonder if he did so deliberately, knowing what the slang term stood for. Or if he didn't have a clue what the slang term meant.

I killed a turkey and critically injured my windshield when I used my truck hood as a quick rest for the shot. The Hakim has very forceful ejection and muzzle blast to match! I've owned 3 over the years and all were excellent shooters. It's funny to hand one to someone and watch them puzzle over how to work it. Bump for the Egyptian Loudenboomer!

.................The barrel on this is Mirror bright, to answer a a couple PM's I got. I also slugged the barrel and it is .313 x 3235". I also forgot to mention that I have a 'New' unissued & complete barrel gastap (unblued, and gas hole undrilled) that also goes along with it.
