Will this boolit work in 35 Remington ?

Purchased this boolit (NEI) for my now sold 35 Whelen. (Was very accurate)

Just bought (here) a primo Rem 81 in 35 Rem.

Buffalo Bore loads a 220 gr jacketed one.

This one casts out for me at 250 gr w/100% ww.

Whaddda ya think ?

The bullet is too long for the magazine unless you deep loaded it. It's a tad on the heavy side for a 35 Rem too.

Yup 25 gr is a "tad" heavy ---- will make no real difference.

As far as too long ----- longer than this Sierra 225 ???

Oh yeah, it'll work. Not very well but it will work.

By the time you seat it deep enough to feed and chamber, the gas check and most of the grease groove are gonna' be back in the boiler room. And you've got no crimp groove to help the case hold onto the boolet. Maybe the Lee factory crimp die applied real firmly will hold her in place. Good luck.

In case you are interested, Lee makes a 205 grain g.c. boolet that is perfect for the 35 Rem, and they have it in 6-cavity too.

I don't know if a DD band mold is ideal for a self loader, try it and find out.

I doubt it will shoot better than the RCBS 35-200-FN or one of its many clones. Since you already have the mold try it and see if it works. If not buy one of the RCBS clones and be done w/ it. I'm still amazed at how well that bullet shoots in my 35cal rifles. I don't have the Lee version but many people have posted positive results w/ it.

I just loaded some of the 245gr. Saeco bullets in 35Rem cases. Seated to the crimp groove top of the check is right at the bottom of the neck. They fit in my 35 Handi just fine. They are not loaded heavy only 10gr. Unique. If they shoot ok I'll up the charge next time. I have the Noe clone of the RCBS-200-FN and dragon is right, it's hard to beat in the 35Rem. Gp

And yup I use most other mold makers and they all have a use and a place but don"t trash Lee , (everybody) starts someplace and ends up shooting cast boolits to their satisfaction :Fire:

I will trash Lee molds. They're one of the few products that they make that are of poor quality. I know lots of people use them. I used to myself. But it was a happy day when I sold the last one off. They fall under the junk category for me. If people like to use them then that's all that matters. But they're always a **** shoot when it comes to bullet diameter. And the quality of them is sub par in every regard.

Your point being what? Your money you can spend however you want but high price tag does not equate to more or better venison in the freezer. I'll stick to my cheap rifles and equipment and have a freezer full all the time. I have nothing to compensate for.

Lots of ways to skin different cats. If it rotates your beenie to have an expensive rifle with all the trimmings, have at it. If that is the case, shelling out for a more suitable mold would presumably not move the needle. I bought the RCBS 200 grain mold for 35 Rem because that is what everyone seems to think is the bees' knees. Have some test loads ready, but have not gotten them out to the range yet.

Personally, I am a lot more interested in performance adequate to the requirements of the job for a given dollar amount. I have bought Lyman and RCBS molds exclusively save a recent purchase of a Lee 2 cavity 30-06 mold. Why did I buy the Lee? It has the reputation as by far the most accurate plinker bullet for the cartridge. The fact that I got it delivered to my porch for a hair over 20 bucks is just the icing on the cake.
