Nice shooting and that’s a good looking Bobcat you got.
But a dead Bobcat is a good Bobcat.

Very nice , a year or so ago I was in an area closed to cat hunting for some study or some such and saw one about that size while in my tree stand; watched it for about 100 yards and was amazed it never made a sound in heavy foliage with a heavy frost!
Very pretty lever gun as well

Yes bobcats are deer killers maybe more so than coyotes. This is the second in a week
Believe this is why my deer numbers are off as well

I used to see one or two Bobcats every year during the conduct of deer hunting, haven't for the past few years. Out here, they look to be a darker gray and the spots aren't nearly as distinct as yours. That's a good trophy, they are much more wary than deer.

Condition of the fur. White flesh side usual when it is prime, able to see color of roots of hair not yet prime.

Prime equals MONEY

Nice looking cat!!! Congrats

As winter gets near, animals fur begins to grow thicker and becomes " prime" fur.

Very nice trophy. Good shooting too. 80 yards is a pretty good distance away for a bobcat.

So how is the chamber on the Henry 45. Is it oversized like most of the Rossi’s? I️ really want to get a 45 LA that I️ can pair with my Blackhawk 45. But I️ don’t want to have to keep the brass separate like I️ have heard you have to do with the Rossi 45s. I️ mean I️ could but I️ would rather not. I️ have been looking at a Marlington 1894 45 Cowboy with the 20” Octagon barrel and it just feels right but I️ would not be comfortable with a Remington made Marlin. Seems they are over the hump then you hear more horror stories. I️ really like the look of that Big Boy steel carbine.

Don't know about the Rossi's. but my Henry loves a .454 bullet. Brass works in the blackhawk just not the bullet ...yet. Cylinder throats are to tight, that is soon to be fixed.. You won't be disappointed in the Henry and that is coming from a Marlin lover.

I normally get a cat every trip to AZ...and jinxed myself last January. I called in and harvested 10 yotes and saw two bobcats...out of shotgun range. I switched to 12 gauge BB shot for calling years ago. I dropped a yote at 106 yards with discontinued Remington HD BB shot on the last call of my last day there. The last shell I had had of that stuff. Brought a tear to my eye. When I got back I bought a case of federal lead classic BB 1 7/8oz off a forum that the poster didn't know was discontinued. Bobcat normally crawl up into my lap when calling but not this last time...they must have had full bellies. I'll take cat over a deer all day long. I saw over 60 whitetails in the last week on my property and never pulled the trigger. I'm getting spoiled by the big racks. I shoot a 20" plus spread every year till this week. Well, I have the next ten days for muzzle loader season to see if I can get it done.

I am going to have to go handle one of those BB Steel Carbines then. I just looked and I can get one for about $60 less than the Marlin 1894 CB. God my wife is going to kill me if I put that on layaway right before Christmas. But I really have no choice, right?

My 9 year old grandson shot a Bobcat on opening day with a Remington 600 in 222 Rem. He got an eight point buck the same morning with the same rifle. One shot killed both of the animals with the 222. Have spent time with at the rifle range with the 222 rifle, for a 9 year old he can shoot the 222 rifle very accurately.

Howdy Smoke
Well done ! I would happily pop a "Stubby tail" if ever one can by our way. What color was the Cast ???
The Henry's are fine carbines ! Our first was a 41 Mag. The 45 Colt is done the list just a few more.

PS I had a Rossi 45 colt .. it also shot great but like others the chamber size was way to big.
Fired brass came out oval shaped and had a glock like bulge)
sold it and got the Henry very very glad I did

Had a bobcat come sneaking in on my deer stand a few weeks back, foggy morning, didn't see him till he was about 25 yards from me. Got over-confident and muffed an easy shot with my old Ruger flattop .44. He was coming straight to me and I'm 18' up, shot hit right between his front paws instead of between his eyes. He went airborne straight up, did a flip/twist in the air and hit the ground in full-flight mode. It was pretty funny even though I hated that I missed him.

Nice shooting.
First time I saw the title I was thinking 80 cyds is a lot of dirt to be moving with a bobcat ( comes from being in construction for most of my life)[smilie=l:

I'm jealous. 48 years hunting and working outdoors and I've yet to kill a bobcat. I know lots of people that have, though. I've seen more of them in the city!

Back in '87 we lived in Jeffersonville Vermont. We had a log home on 10.5 acres of land with State Forest on 3 sides. Early one morning I was enjoying a cup of coffee laced with an adult beverage (Jameson) when I noticed from the corner of my eye some movement.

It was a bobcat sneaking up on my chicken coop and fenced in yard. We kept them locked up inside at night and I had yet to go outside to allow them access to their fenced in area. It was also covered on top with chicken wire as we had lost some to predators in the past.

I quickly went and got my Wife and showed her the feline. She loves felines and has always had at least two living with her. We watched as the bobcat tried to gain access to the fenced in area to attack the chickens inside the coop.

My Wife slowly and quietly opened the window to get a better view. Then she called out in her special highpitched kitty voice "Here Kitty Kitty".

That bobcat jumped straight up at least 5 feet and turned around 180 degrees whilst doing so. He hit the ground at top speed and leapt away through the snow. When I went outside later I measured his footprints. He had leapt 11 feet initially and then bounded through the snow (only 5") with an average of 9 feet between leaps.

Needless to say we never saw him again.
