Mimicking Lyman's 429421 in 300 grain design with flat base?

LBT can do it

NOE has a Keith SWC called 432-277. I just did a google search for Lyman 429421 and most of the molds are around 250 grains. NOE's weight is listed as 264 grains.

Based on those results I'm guessing most 300 grain molds aren't going to be labeled as a 429421.

Accurate can do it and you'll have it in three weeks.

All you have to do is order his standard .44 Keith mold, tell him that you want the driving bands wider to bring the weight up to 300 grains in your alloy, specify diameter you want and you are good to go.

Mountain Molds will also do a Keith of about any weight. You just need to input the weight and dimensions in his online program. RCBS has a gas checked SWC 300 grain.

mart, I don't know the dimentions for his program to use(ogive, etc.). Outpost75 do you recall his number to use in ordering? tja6435 yes, I've used Veral before but, what number of his mold would I use to order?

I went on the Mountain Mold program and told it to do a 300 grain original Keith with a .450 length nose to maximize the cylinder. I have two and they both will take a maximum of .460 for nose length. I gave it a 75% meplat and made it plain base with equal length bands. It looks good with either 2 or three bands. One will give you a single lube groove the other two lube grooves. I like a single lube groove. It doesn't ask for an ogive on the Keith bullet.

I have a lot of LBT molds and would highly recommend one of his. I am expecting four molds from him when I get home from my hitch on the north slope. They'll all be four cavity, a 357 200 grain WFN, a 475 420 grain WLN, a 512 440 grain Keith and a 512 500 grain WLN. LBT would be my first choice. I mentioned Mountain Molds because they make a great mold and you can manipulate the bullet design to meet your wants. NOE makes a good mold but I don't think they do a 300 grain Keith. They might if you asked though.

You need to look at the NOE Keith bullet. I am getting 270 grains in HP form

I have the NOE Keith too, I'm getting 265 on the small HP and 277 solid, as cast.

Elmers boolit is duplicated exactly in a Hensley&Gibbs 503 mold.. 0nes from my H&G 503 drop out of my mold @ app 256gr using 50/50 COWS & SOWS. These original H&G molds come up on flebay now and then. A bit pricey t l saw 4 cavity close today @ $255

NOE 432265 is the copy of H&G 503 which Keith stated was the most accurate representation of his boolit. Keith never shot a 300gr boolit.

stubshaft, I wasn't asking for a history lesson and never said anything about Elmer Keith shooting 300 grain bullets in .44s. Too bad you neglected to fill in more of you profile info, maybe we'd know more about people here? But, thanks for the lesson?

43-250J is Accurate's clone of the original #429421. You can pull that profile up to order, then just instruct Tom in the notes the alloy you will use and the diameter you want, and that you want the driving bands made wider to increase weight to 300 grains.
